Re: NutterButter 2022 Soil Test
I like how you say that my front is in the sweet spot. :) So just lime/salt mix and 10-10-10 in the back and the the urea in the front. Check. For the sampling, do folks use a soil sample probe to ensure you're getting the sample at the correct depth? Maybe I'm just screwing up the sampling use the ...

NutterButter 2022 Soil Test
Hello Soil Gurus, Front is 10K sq ft. Back is 12k sq ft. Both are ryegrass and have full irrigation. Here's last year's test: https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=26534 . Did the 2nd half of the world famous fall nitrogen regime (overseeded so had to wait for those babies to grow u...

Re: Any thoughts on what's killing my lawn again
Any other thoughts Andy? Does the possible cause I threw out there make any sense? Really don't know what else could be causing it.

Re: Hurricane Ida
Did a reseed last weekend with just a small part of it getting a peat moss dressing. I've been saying a lot of prayers. Looking at 4 inches. Maybe it will just blow past us. Ha.

Re: New House - Overseeding
I'm following. Keeping seeds moist for however long your seed type requires is rule #1.

Re: New House - Overseeding
No worries. I'm really just going off of what I've read (a google of whether you need to rake up dead grass before seeding will come up with a lot of hits although could be another case of the info out there just being wrong or behind the times) and from what I've seen. I'm going through another re-...

Re: New House - Overseeding
Just to be clear, I didn't say aeration. That's a totally different thing. I don't think aeration is necessary.

Re: New House - Overseeding
That is incorrect. I’ve done at least a dozen total kill renovations and seeded into more than a quarter-inch of dead grass. The seed germinates fine, assuming you keep the seed bed moist. Rolling can help, if it gives you peace of mind. But proper watering practices make a bigger difference betwee...

Re: New House - Overseeding
Given the grasses in his current mix, he is unlikely to have thatch. Only KBG in his currently listed grasses produce thatch. Even at that, the thatch produced by KBG is minimal. I grow 100 percent Kentucky Bluegrass and have never needed to dethatch. In cool season environments, dethatching is rar...

Re: New House - Overseeding
1. I get my seed from the seed superstore. They recommend https://www.seedsuperstore.com/catalog/p-100073/ss1002-tall-fescue-shade-blend?zip=61933&type=shady . 2. Not critical. Removing any thatch build up is the most important step imo. You could also roll to get that good soil seed contact. A ligh...

Re: Any thoughts on what's killing my lawn again
A few questions: (1) Is there recovery as the Fall moves on, or is it really dead? (2) Is it really a pure Perennial Rye lawn, or really a Northern Mix? (3) what are the irrigation practices? (4) does it reoccur in the same areas each year? First off, thanks for taking the time to reply. As someone...

Re: Help with identifying what this is
This was one of those grasses that I've seen in my lawn that I never did get an identification of. I was thinking a fescue based on the leaf shape but its nice to know for certain.

Any thoughts on what's killing my lawn again
Seems like the same story every year. I think i'm doing everything right as far as watering, fertilizing, grub control, soil composition and still this just keeps happening. Its like the roots are dying b/c the grass (what's left of it) just pulls right out. Not a grub to be found in the batch I che...

Re: Triclopyr Ester Crushed my Clover!
I used it for the 1st time this year as well and had the same results as you. Its definitely more economical than the weed b gone cco. Tenacity is great for certain things, but its always my poison of last resort due to the hideous whitening that occurs.

Pretty certain that's not carpetweed. That stuff is literally like a carpert. Very dense, lays flat with lots of small branches and leaves.

Re: Does Tenacity kill Dallisgrass?
It's almost like the triclopyr is bouncing off the leaves and not sticking. I wonder if a surfactant is needed. Or if I should spray after mowing when the stalks are cut and open. Did you have any luck with the triclopyr? I can say that at least in my case that the two applications of cco I did lat...

Ok to apply ferrous sulfate and lime in july? You didn't say otherwise, but figured let's be safe and ask. Thanks.
