Tore out 1' sections to make way for new sidewalks and curbs. Hopefully the city doesn't drag their feet and I can get everything back in place soon. On the plus side literally every worker commented on the grass...one even asked if it was real.

Re: KBG seed heads-mow or no?
I'm still pretty new to this game so this raises a related question for me: I had some pretty good snow mold damage this year so I've been mowing low under the assumption that this would help with tillering and thus filling in these spots....seems this may actually be hindering the process? Should I...

Decision to make
As a real quick background: I tore up and leveled my very small (~350sqft) front yard this past spring. I decided to do a spring seeding since I was working from home and would be able to water it accordingly. I had great success and its looked really great all year. I just found out the city is rep...

Re: Got Urea?
For anyone in the Capital District NY area I picked this up at SiteOne in Clifton Park today...~$35/50lbs. Incidentally, can someone confirm this is fast release? I asked and they said they were pretty sure. I don't see anything about it being coated but since this is the first time I'm purchasing i...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
Quick question: I'm looking at the aggressive approach to really push my new lawn (spring seeding) for the fall and next year. My issue is that both my front and back yards are pretty tiny. It's less than 1000sqft total (in fact the front is only 350sqft) so if my math is right I'm looking at applyi...

Re: 2019-20 complete yard implantation
We are now 9+ weeks post seed down. The blend is coming along however the rye is still hanging on. I’m hoping the summer heat will kill it….and I believe it is making a dent as some areas definitely look a bit stressed….but it’s a delicate act to take care of the desired grass around it. I find myse...

Re: 2019-20 complete yard implantation
It wasn’t until after I started to get some germination that I realized the rye wasn’t quite done with me. Like I said….had I discovered this forum earlier I would have known to spray it when it was actively growing. But I had quite literally made my bed so there was nothing I could do now but let i...

Re: 2019-20 complete yard implantation
I used the off-season to educate myself a bit more so I would be more prepared for 2020. I decided I would reseed everything in the spring since I couldn’t wait all spring/summer for the more optimal fall planting. Besides, it’s only 650sqft so if it needed some babying to get through summer it woul...

Re: 2019-20 complete yard implantation
It grew a bit. Certainly enough to get some cover by November. I was pleased to have something back there anyway. I packed it up and I let the lawn go to sleep for the winter. https://i.postimg.cc/3WWWWjMX/L11.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Pvb7dpMP/L12.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/cv7LPXYS/L13.jpg

Re: 2019-20 complete yard implantation
One dumpster, countless hand cart/wheelbarrow trips back and forth, rented jack hammer, and a backache and I finally had my clean slate. https://i.postimg.cc/k6LLXyCM/L8.jpg However, time was not on my side. It was late September and this is where I made my first critical error: not believing I had ...

Re: 2019-20 complete yard implantation
I’m not sure there were any grass plants to be found. I sat and stewed about it all winter. The weed-infested concrete jungle could not be tolerated. So I came up with a plan to do something about it in 2019. I researched. I watched videos. I got estimates to remove the tons of concrete. I...ended u...

2019-20 complete yard implantation
This is a long one….buckle up. I would like to start by pointing out that I did not discover this forum until after most of this work had been completed, which is unfortunate because it may have saved me a few headaches….but alas, here is my saga: We bought our house in August of 2018. A nice two-fa...

Re: What's up with my grass?
should I also be lowering my HOC? It's currently 3-3.5"
I already plan on mowing it pretty short after the summer heat but will that help it dry out a bit to fight it?

Re: What's up with my grass?
well hmm...it seems like it may be the early stages of it. I'm so surprised since when I noticed it it seemed to be very dry conditions.
But I'll get right on it today...thanks for the help!

What's up with my grass?
Hello all! I've been lurking here for a short time. This will be my first post....I'll try to keep it short and sweet. A little background: I renovated my small (~350sqft) front yard this april using the seedsuperstore sunny blend of KGB, rye, and fescue. It survived both a late snowfall and freeze ...
