Mulch mowed the lawn, 2nd time of the season. First mow was 10 days ago and the mature fescue was like a jungle!

Re: Soil Test -- Turk 2023
Thanks so much, Morpheus!
I guess the low pH helps explain why last fall's seeding came in but didn't really fill in over the winter as much as I expected, I'm guessing it's still trying to grow roots with limited topgrowth so far.

Bumping for 2017 renos... Psssst!!! You're not supposed to resurrect this thread until the seed is down for the second week of renovators!! After they're 8000% committed, THEN we tell them about Sprout-and-Pout. By that time, they're thoroughly drunk after worrying about thunderstorms, 6-million bi...

Re: Pizza
I have been able to cook some awesome pizzas on my gas grill using a pizza stone and a heavy-duty wok cover. The work cover is 15 inches diameter and comes with a riveted aluminum handle so it won't burn (like the wooden plug on my flimsy wok cover from my old wok), total $32.96 (including shipping)...

Re: 4-6 hours Sun or Shade seed?
Agree with Green, I'd try throwing in some Turf Type Tall Fescue (TTTF), it's done reasonably well in my shady areas and looks a lot better than some of that shady grasses (some of which are downright ugly). I used Pennington Signature Series (Blue Label certified w/ zero weed seed).

Sprayed Bayer Acclaim and Triclopyr ester to keep the bermudagrass in check. Grr, so the heavens opened up and got 2 freaking inches of rain that afternoon and more last night :banghead: At least the Acclaim was down for a few hours so we'll see, may need to reapply the triclopyr ester next week (I...

Re: Best time for fall overseeding in Annapolis, MD?
Thanks for all the suggestions. What is this rule about about waiting 30 days after germination before you put down fertilizer? It seems that since many people break the rule, I can still stick with around September 1 (or maybe push it back a week) for fertilizer application (per Morpheus' recommend...

Best time for fall overseeding in Annapolis, MD?
I'm trying to figure out the optimal time to do my fall overseeding with TTTF (including Rebel V and Rebel XLR) to fix some bare spots that used to be infested with weeds (some areas have some residual bermudagrass I'm controlling with Bayer Acclaim), and some hilly areas that got washed out during ...

Re: Mosquito Joe Alternative
Just came across this thread doing a search. FYI I've been using Demand CS from Syngenta to spray foliage around the yard and undersides of trees with a Tomahawk backpack sprayer. It's been very effective in our heavily wooded property and lasts around 4-6 weeks (although the sprayer is a bit heavy ...
