Scalping timing with Glypho

Interesting article on effectiveness of Glypho when scalping is performed at different time intervals: https://www.gcmonline.com/course/environment/news/scalping-tall-fescue-glyphosate "Overall, our results for both spring and fall timings indicate that tall fescue control with glyphosate is not red...

Re: Any chance that Chlorosulfuron comes back for turf use?

Green, what time of year do you hit the Triv with Certainty? I think the label mentions after Memorial Day for general use, though Triv seems to be most active and noticeable in Spring.

Re: Bazil’s 2022 Lawn Renovation

Seed is ordered. More importantly the Glypho is applied. No turning back now. We say goodbye to this ‘lawn’.

Re: What is this sprawling grass?

These areas arent matted, no. I do have other areas that are matted, but I'm not sure if they are the same grass or a different one. This does seem to fit the characteristics of creeping bentgrass. I'm about to nuke the lawn with glypho though, so hopefully that takes it out along with everything el...

Re: Tenacity

I think Tenacity has done a great job of marketing itself, particularly on YouTube. Tenacity was one of the first herbicides I bought to address a clover issue. Despite glowing YouTube reviews (‘this is how pros deal with clover!) It did a poor job of fixing it. My personal view is that the only rea...

Re: Bazil’s 2022 Lawn Renovation

Thank you again for the advice. I just spent a chunk of time reading the NTEP reports and balancing them with what is available for sale etc and think I will go with a mix of Bewitched (compact), Everest (compact midnight) and Mazama (compact America). It looks like I can get all of these gold tag/ ...

Re: Bazil’s 2022 Lawn Renovation

Slight change of plan. After adding up shipping costs and extra weight needed per 1,000 sq/ft, it is no more expensive to do KBG as TTTF so I'm switching to KBG. I prefer the appearance of KBG but am a bit intimidated by trying to grow it. I'm trying to decide between Midnight (from UnitedSeed), Maz...

Re: Bazil’s 2022 Lawn Renovation

Thanks. I can certainly start it all a week earlier. I was timing it to trying to minimize the time where I have a dead lawn, as I know that having a dead lawn will annoy my wife. That post seeding feeding advice is great, I'll load up on product now so that I dont have to worry about supply issues ...

Bazil’s 2022 Lawn Renovation

Monmouth County, NJ lawn. 20,000 sq ft. Debating renovating front and rear or just front alone. As I would be top dressing and over-seeding the rear anyway, it seems like doing a full renovation isn’t much extra cost or effort. Prep Work: Power rake entire lawn (already started) Moss Out to totally ...

What is this sprawling grass?

Fescue lawn. I have areas of this stuff. It is very shallow rooted, some sections blew out with a backpack blower. Also how would I kill it before overseeding In the fall? Thanks. https://i.postimg.cc/QH8WZsQ9/84-AAC513-D33-F-49-C3-8-CA1-73-BEFB641507.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/23fZTn3x/C52-EC702-963-...

Best Practice for Overseeding?

I'm trying to find best practice for overseeing my 20,000 sq/ft TTTF lawn in Monmouth, NJ. Unfortunately I couldn't find any articles on the front page, and my Forum search for 'overseeding' was hit and miss. Questions I have in particular: - When to do it/ best time of year. I have irrigation. - An...

Triclopyr Ester Crushed my Clover!

Triclopyr Ester: This stuff did an amazing job getting rid of my clover! Last season I tried Bonide CCO Killer, it barely made a dent. Earlier this season I tried Tenacity (I fell for the youtube promotions touting it as a pro clover killer) and this also achieved very little. 2 weeks ago I had clov...

Re: Dethatch in July?

Apologies, by 'garden' i meant 'lawn'. Re the Triv, Tenacity possibly slowed it down but it was the recent heat that stopped it growing. In the areas where I had/ have Triv, there are mats of brown stolons(?) covering the soil and no grass blades from the plant. Is there nothing to be gained from ri...

Dethatch in July?

I have many areas of dead grass and thatch in my garden. Some are from areas of invasive grasses that Tenacity killed off (bent grass etc), others are mats of stolons from POA Triv. Is it best to leave this in place through the hot months, or should I dethatch now? Thanks.

Re: Bazil's Soil Test For Interpretation

Thank you for the analysis and the recommendations. These numbers really meant very little to me without your insights. I don't think I have ever used a balanced fertilizer on the lawn before so this is all new for me. On sodium, I should have mentioned that I live near the ocean and my lawn flooded...

I'm trying Anuew for POA Triv control

I have a Fescue lawn and it is infested with POA A and POA Triv. I dont have a good enough eye to detect all of the patches, though 2 Tenacity applications have helped to light some of it up. I hate the stalky stems on the POA Triv - they feel awful underfoot and they look ugly. I have so much of it...

Re: Help with grassy weed identification

Thank you. If I kill this with Glypho now, will I have bald spots in the lawn all summer where it used to be? How would I rehab those areas please?
