Re: 2023: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today (Cool Season)
Another mow in yesterday after a much needed break from 10 days of cold, rain, and clouds. Tenacity lit up a fair amount of poa triv coming from the neighbor's lawn as well as some that has snuck into the middle of mine. Probably going to have to use some non-selective herbicide and overseed on thos...

Re: 2023: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today (Cool Season)
Got my first mow in yesterday. My lawn has been slower to wake up and is also recovering from two puppies running on it all winter. Couple of dog spots to address and some thin spots to overseed this fall once the pups are trained to walk on a leash better. Prodiamine went down yesterday as well as ...

Re: Weed/grass ID
Based on the pictures, my initial thought is orchard grass. Which, unfortunately, is only controlled with non-selective herbicides like glyphosate. Some additional pictures may be able to definitively identify it. Can you get a close up of the leaf/stem to see if there are ligules? Maybe a picture o...

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Another mow and sprayed some Cleary 3336F (Thiophanate-methyl) as another disease control. Started have some softball/grapefruit sized patches of grass die off from disease.

Re: Battling Leaf Spot for 8 Weeks
Yessir we did do the soil test. Overall it was good, a little low in iron and high in calcium & sulfur (naturally high in gypsum?). pH is a little high at 7. Test is here: https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=27061 Applications so far: 4/10 - Prodiamine 4/30 - PurelyOrganic Lawn Fo...

Re: Battling Leaf Spot for 8 Weeks
Just an update to this, unfortunately I seem to be having the same problem again this spring. I put DiseaseEx down on 05/13 and it was watered in on 05/15 with the rain. I cleaned my mower deck and blades with the bleach solution as well as sharpened the blades before the first mow. The bigger conce...

Mowed tonight and found disease again in my lawn... DiseaseEx only just watered in with the rain on Sunday, so hoping it will take care of it.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Got a mow in last night and put down some DiseaseX at the preventative rate. We're supposed to get pretty consistent rain every two or three day over the next few weeks and don't want a repeat of last year. Yard is starting to fill in the holes from last year and the glyphosate is killing the few sp...

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I've been trying to wrangle my mother-in-law's lawn as she's hoping to sell in the next year or two. Right now it's about 50% weeds and has some bare spots. Overseed planned for the fall. Today, I put down some lime and a 12-12-12 fertilizer. According to a soil test she had done at the agricultural...

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Got a mow in this evening and applied some glyphosate using a foam brush to the poa triv that's throughout the lawn (~20% of it... ugh). Going at it in patches. The lawn is going to look a little rough until I can overseed this fall.

Re: 2022: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
Mowed and put down some PurelyOrganic Lawn Food which is a soybean meal fertilizer. Trying to push some growth to hopefully get my KBG to fill in some holes. Also put down some bioadvanced grub killer plus and ferrous sulphate to add some iron content for a green up.

Re: Weed ID
It may be dallisgrass which looks very similar to crabgrass. Tenacity should have some effect on it but it might not be able to clear it out completely. Depending on what you seeded and when it starts to germinate, you could also use Quinclorac to clear it out.

Re: Hazard's Soil Test 2022
Thanks for reviewing my sample Morph! Just a couple of items for clarification that I have questions on. Is there anything that I need to do to bring sulphur and calcium down, or just accept it as it is? I generally try to avoid bio-solids due to the amount of PFAS they contain. I worked for a water...

Hazard's Soil Test 2022
This is my fourth year working on this lawn and it had a rough year last (https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?t=26810) which has left some bare spots this spring. Location: Near Pittsburgh, PA Lawn Size: 950 sqft I mow usually twice a week during the growning season and once a week when ...

Re: Generic Ortho WBG Chickweed, Clover, and Oxalis
TZone is labeled for cool season grass and contains over 7% Triclopyr among other herbicides. It would likely suit your needs.

Re: Battling Leaf Spot for 8 Weeks
I did go looking for that blade just as an example of what kind of spots I was seeing in the lawn. I'll let it go at this point and see if gets much worse. I definitely went with the shotgun approach on cultivars since I didn't know what was specifically in the lawn originally and, in hindsight, I w...

Re: Battling Leaf Spot for 8 Weeks
Some of that MIGHT be just a bit of a disease and I'll let others speak to that, but the brown stuff you see in the grass is called BBDL. Other than BBDL, I see nothing indicative of anything severe. Brown Blades Down Low. :-) It's normal. Grass sloughs off old, dying blades and throws them away, w...

Battling Leaf Spot for 8 Weeks
I have been fighting leaf spot in my lawn for several weeks now and am hoping that someone will have a suggestion as to what I can do to finally get rid of this fungus. Below is what I've tried so far: DiseaseX at curative rate on 06/12/2021 Second app of DiseaseX at curative rate and a foliar appli...

Re: Weed ID help?
Triclopyr would likely be the herbicide of choice. Tenacity may cause it to whiten/wilt but I don't believe it's labeled for knotweed.
