Re: GermanShep's Soil Test - Spring 2022
I did pickup several bags of 10-10-10 fertilizer this weekend. Bag weight is 20 lbs and there is no appliation rate or coverage rate listed on the bag. I will follow the recommendations with the use of this balanced fertilizer. I do have the micros coming from Alpha Chemicals and I also have the 20 ...

Re: GermanShep's Soil Test - Spring 2022
I placed my order for the micro nutrients yesterday from Alpha Chemicals and they had very reasonable pricing. On last Falls soil test, Andy had indicated that I should use a balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer so it seems like that is going to be the same recommendation this year. I may try to find a bala...

I'm in the middle of Audit Week at work and doing lesser answers only; I'll get there! Thank you so very much! I just wanted to make sure that I posted the link correctly. I will look forward to hearing the details when you have the time to review my report and give me suggestions. No worries on my...

Re: GermanShep's Soil Test - Spring 2022
I am not sure if I posted a link properly or not because it has been quite a while and I do not believe my soil test has been looked at for
recommendations? I just want to make sure that I have not missed something?

GermanShep's Soil Test - Spring 2022
I have attached my most recent soil test results from Logan Labs and the soil test results that I had received from my first soil samples taken back on 08/31/21 for comparison purposes. I do feel that my soil is going in the proper direction with the inputs that I have given it so far since last yea...

Re: Front Lawn Discoloring
It's very unlikely that a soil problem would lead to deterioration like that in 2 days--it's something that's systemic and that shows constantly over the course of years. That's a disease or other issue. This is the spring peak (well, it is here; Minnesota is probably still in the future by a week ...

Re: Front Lawn Discoloring
Thank you for expressing the possibilities. I will try and get some up close photos of the grass blades. I just cannot understand how a vey healthy nice lawn can go to looking so bad in a 2 day time frame? Something is up and I will get to the bottom of it. I still have to pull my soil plugs and get...

Front Lawn Discoloring
My front lawn has turned front the normal deep dark green it has always been to a pale green with yellowing and I am wondering if my lawn got to much nitrogen this could happen? The reason I question this is that last week I applied a nice balanced 10-10-10 fertilizer to my front lawn and a day or t...

Re: Dog Spots
I have been contemplating putting down mulch or something similar to what you have done on your lawn. What kind of wood chips do you use and where can I find a good source to buy wood chips? I have many home improvement centers in my town and most of them sell mulch so I will check into the wood chi...

Re: Dog Spots
Thank you for the sugar information. I will begin doing this right away along with watering down the area after they potty. I hope that this will begin to help the problem and now that the temps are beginning to warm up if you can call 40's warm, I can have the hose back out and ready to spray the a...

Dog Spots
I have a small section of my back yard that I let my 2 dogs go to potty on because I don't want them going all over my entire property which is small to begin with. I restrict them to one area of my back yard only so I don't get urine burn marks all over my entire lawn. I will also add that I have v...

Re: Raking prior to dormant overseeding
I personally am a big fan of dormant seeding as I have usually had good luck with it in past years and I have done it several times at different properties I have owned. I missed my seeding window this past fall just because there was so much going on this past summer and fall I knew that a good suc...

Re: GermanShep's Fall 1st Soil Test
Where in Minnesota are you? Fleugel's farm supply in Rosemount has the best prices I've found in the metro. $17.99 for Urea, 19.99 for 19-19-19 Good to know. I live in Rochester, MN and we get up to the Twin Cities metro about every other month. I may need to make a run up there for my Fall urea.

Re: GermanShep's Fall 1st Soil Test
Thank you for the information, it makes sense and I know things don't happen overnight and soil improvement takes time. Just to summarize for my Fall applications to make sure that I understand and use the correct regiment. Apply 10-10-10 balanced fertilizer at bag rate now in early Sept and again i...

Re: GermanShep's Fall 1st Soil Test
I have access to a 10-10-10 balanced fertilizer Groundworks brand from TCS and I also found Milorganite at Lowes. Both products are 8.99 per bag so they are relatively inexpensive for me right now. My lawn is a total size of 6,200 sq ft. so I don't require large quantities of anything. I realize the...

Re: GermanShep's Fall 1st Soil Test
Thank you for the guidance and your time Andy! I was contemplating a few things and wanted to get your input before I do anything. I know when I dig down into my soil that I hit a lot of wet gray colored clay soil at 6" deep in many areas and as I dig deeper and then it goes into limestone and shale...

GermanShep's Fall 1st Soil Test
Hello, I have attached my first soil test from a new property which I moved into this past June and I now that I am settled in a bit I have time to dedicate to my lawn. I knew that my first test would not be very good considering this is an new construction home property and I know that the developm...
