Re: Picking a Robotic Mower

Glad your mower is working so well for you Morph, guess the new firmware resolved some "outstanding issues"! The am radio works well but you have to pount it on a stick so it is very close to the ground when searching so you'll hear the squeal. The quality of cut is pretty golf-green like, isn't it?...

Re: Hose end vs backpack

In the spirit of 100% transparency, I sprayed MY yard yesterday, loading the backpack full with 4 gal. I nearly fell over, twice....but this will never get to Kerry's ears....she would tease me for years!

Re: Hose end vs backpack

I used my girl this weekend....no guys, not like that.... I took my backpack over to my sweethearts beautiful home on a shady nook on MD's Eastern Shore. She bought it this past Spring and "SAND" is the substrate God chose. LOL Between the shade and sand, it's a battle we knew we were entering prior...

Re: Need opinions for methods on full reno

Yes, DD is correct on the pros of using it but it's not cheap like it used to be!!! Peat cost me 11.78 per bundle. My GF Kerry has an erosion problem so we're pricing up erosion mats...embedded with grass seed. Without seed, 2000SF costs 250 bucks at Lowes....23 bucks per 4'x50' mat. Might be a chea...

Re: Need opinions for methods on full reno

I should have added my 2nd method....same deal with the toppings, 3way, seed, peat.....but then let it "cook" under the sun after a 2 minute spray just to lock the peat into place. Let it sit for 3-4 days then water............I got grass this year in 5 days using this method where I had a 5'x20'x5'...

Re: Need opinions for methods on full reno

FWIW- I took a space actually worse than that, two years ago mid-Sept, ran a 60 buck bag of Scotts 16-0-0 triple on top of pure seed, then covered with peat.....water for 12 days in a row, grass after 6. I kept it alive until my trees dumped their oak leaves which sat there till my guy comes out in ...

Re: Hose end vs backpack

A little science goes a long way......backpack or hose-end, a single drop of a surfactant will shatter the surface tension preventing the fluid from attaching itself to the stalk of whatever....Dawn dish soap is my preferred surfactant. This allows foliar coverage as well as ground coverage...like a...

Re: Hose end vs backpack

I wrestled with electric backpack vs hose end like many here do. For me, the value of the backpack is that I don't have to drag a very heavy 100' 3/4" hose around BUT 50lbs on the back, is 50 pounds on the back.....you not only need to be able to carry the weight, you will need to be able to sling i...

Re: Anyone planting Firecracker?

Yes, the SLS. I think. The spreading isn't as good at many of the others even though it's enhanced in this strain. If well fertilized, it won't recede from the edge of the forest and it has overtaken a stand of KBG planted by the previous owner on one side of my front lawn. My other side- neighbor h...

Re: Anyone planting Firecracker?

I did my over-seed with it last Sunday, by Friday I had grass when I had covered it with peat(I had a 20x20 area excavated last Fall for a retaining wall repair). The Firecracker comes in strong and tough for the winter and will be exceptional next Spring......but it comes at a heavy cost for seed. ...

Anyone planting Firecracker?

I have been using this strain for 3 years with excellent results however it is expensive for pure seed (0% weed, 0% other).....around 4 bucks a lb, delivered. Has anyone got a source? I can only find it at United Seed.

Re: Picking a Robotic Mower

Thanks for the welcome Morph.... I should have warned people not to buy a machine worth several hundred or more dollars on fleabay from sellers with 0 feedback. There are many on there selling for 1/2 price but no one vouches for them....no FB, no buy! My guys each have about 8k SF to cover and they...

Re: Hose end vs backpack

As long as your mix is a solution and not a suspension and as long as you have all your chems calculated for the same SF'age, you're golden!

Re: Picking a Robotic Mower

I'm very new on this forum, 1st post....but you will LOVE your mower Morph, the Worx 155 is an excellent machine and you didn't waste money on stuff you don't need....they are amazingly simple yet effective machines. Here is the best part....I am now free to feed/fertilize, over seed with NO WORRIES...
