Re: Fertilizer Spreaders - Let me Complain

The concept of edgeguard is that, when enabled, the right side spray is blocked. So I make a counter-clockwise pass of the perimeter of the property in this mode, and a clockwise pass of any mulch "islands". Then I do the lines but turn short of over-spraying anything This minimizes over-spray. After...

Re: Lawsuit for truck ruts in lawn?

Trash truck took out my street edge, bad. Wife was seeing red, wanted to take all sorts of action. It's just grass. I know it's a serious hobby and may be a masterpiece, but it's still just grass. As TurfToes points out, who knows what these folks are capable of? I sue Waste Management (Mob,BTW) and...

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?

Sure, urea makes sense as always in Fall. I would just not over-do it, hence the relative safety of Milo.

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?

Don't over-think this in Transition. Traditional winterizer usually is impossible to time here. Just Milo your way through winter. When it gets cold, stop. When warm resume. Basically I drop into January and stop. Then pick up in late Feb. Sometimes grass does not go dormant, so it's not feasible to...

Re: The #1 Lesson You Learned in 2016

Before Fall over-seed or reno, check and test EVERY sprinkler head for output, pattern and reliability. Very time-consuming (and wet) task. Don't take your sprinkler guy's word for it, if you use one. I found roots growing through rotors, dead/cracked heads, and droplet patterns that were too harsh ...

Re: New Puppy Killing Fescue

As NCLawnGuy inferred, it will be challenging with a puppy since they have little to no warning, they just pee. You will have to deal with it until around 6 months old. After that the training will have more meaning to the animal. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/imag...

Re: Frequent low dose Tenacity apps on new turf

Some folks need to drop more seed at 30 days for bare spot repair, so breaking it up would cause problems for the late seedlings that make it.

I know - calculated risk with two dogs, three children, and 110 degree heat index, since it was not our error. I started the call at 4:30 and did not finish until 5:30, when "no crews were available". There was a lock that we popped off. "What lock?" it has an old school meter. I said the probably n...

Believe it - this is Aqua America. They are the second largest non-municipal water/sewer provider in the States - $6B market cap. A municipal provider would play by compassionate rules. These other companies fill the gaps with what appears to be looser policies and ethics. [ Post made via Mobile Dev...

Re: I have some warm season lawn questions

High Fescue is key for summer survival (as you know). My problem is the wife and kids don't like it tickling their legs, so I have to mow it lower than I'd like. Are yours cool with a higher HOC? [ Post made via Mobile Device ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/Mobile%20Device.png
