The clumps look like perineal rye to me. Are the blades shiny on one side?
There’s not much you can do to get rid of it other than a renovation. If I get a really obvious clump I will pull it out sometimes.
This is why people plant pure bluegrass or even a mono stand of bluegrass.

Re: Drilling your own well
Dropped the well pipe with slotted well point tonight. The well point is sitting at 12 1/2 ' below grade. Filled in with larger, course sand, and then a little bit of tiny pea gravel. We'll test output next. I know this is real old, but did you ever get output? How much? I'm moving to the Westfield...

Re: 200sq feet of Ky-31 in otherwise great lawn. Help?
When Certainty first came out it was labeled for removal of k-31 in bluegrass and I still use it as such in central Indiana. I have decent luck using it to spot spray clumps. I use it at the .75 oz/acre rate sprayed a week or two before the average first frost date with a possible second app 2-3 wee...

It may just be the seed stalks turning brown.

Re: Annual Rye?
I think it just looks like regular perennial rye grass. With the stems and the clump it looks like it pulled out in.

Re: SAP
My toro struggles with the wet grass in the spring as well. It holds the clippings under the deck and as it builds up will start to bog out down. I've got to where I use the side discharge chute through may.

seed for grass in pots...
I'd like to do some grass in pots but it has been 4 years since I seeded the yard. So I need a very small amount of seed, which seems almost impossible to buy. Does anybody have a quarter or half pound they are willing to sell? I'm not looking for anything specific but an elite kbg. I've got Paypal....

Re: Mulching Christmas Tree
I've done what you are talking about the last two years. Our town doesn't do the tree Recycling thing. We get white pines and I cut off all the branches smaller than a half inch and throw them around the yard and run them over. I make sure the blade is fairly sharp. It makes a lot of noise but doesn...

Re: Irrigating off a well and/or lake...
Here's my post from last year: http://aroundtheyard.com/equipment/lawn-irrigation-pumps-t2105.html#p22416 I'm still using the same setup and pump. I found out the pump has good SKS bearings in it with no signs of wear after 4 years of abuse. It'll only run 2 sprinklers at a time but for $50 can't be...

Re: Is This a Bur Oak?
Well I finally did some more research and this is a Overcup Oak. It's not what I wanted but it is growing faster than a bur oak would have, which is good I guess. About 18" per year. It's not native to central Indiana though which I wanted. It's almost 4 foot now though so I guess I'll leave it. Eric

Re: Is This a Bur Oak?
Thanks for the help. I was hoping since it came from the Arbor Day Foundation it would be what they claim. Oh well. I'm not sure I'll ever see it produce acorns. I've heard it's 25 years.

What grass for no maintenance in fla?
I'm at my parents south of Tampa Florida. Its just a mile or so from the ocean. I would assume hi ph but havent done a soil test They need some grass planted. The only irrigation will be from rain. Bahia was mentioned. I need to be able to get it locally. Is now a decent time to plant seed? Any sugg...

Re: Is This a Bur Oak?
I looked again. There does seem to be a bit of anthracnose on 3 or 4 of the leaves. I guess I wasn't to worried about it. Should I be?

Is This a Bur Oak?
So, this is the 4th season for a tree I got from the Arbor Day Foundation. The first year I planted it, it didn't get any leaves and died back to the ground pretty much. The 2nd year it sprouted from the base and grew a few inches. Last year it grew about 18 inches and is doing well now. The leaves ...

Lesco fertilizer prices?
Did Lesco fertilizer prices go sky high in the last 2 weeks? I was just looking at a bag of starter on their web site and it listed it at $62! It was in the mid to upper 20's 2 weeks ago I think. Did My internet prices just get messed up?

Re: Car wash chemicals - morph?
I'm as OCD about cars as I am the grass. Never run a car through any carwash if you want the keep the paint looking good and swirl free. Use two 5 gallon buckets one with just rinse water the other with Car soap. Dish washing soaps strip carnuba wax off, or alt least Dawn does. Use detailing clay to...
