Re: SB's Soil Test 2016

Last year I really didn't do much to the lawn. I'll pick up the pace and follow the plan. Thanks.

SB's Soil Test 2016

This is year 5 following the advice on this site although the last 2 years I have not had much time and have only done the basics- N a few times a year, spray FE, shampoo a few times, fall pre-emergent, and some Tenacity in the spring. The drought was tough this year, but the lawn has held up pretty...

Re: Lawn Drink Holders

Ocean State Job lot has (had) some that are about waist high for $2.50 each. I bought a couple, should have bought more.

Re: Humic DG granular soil conditioner

Do you have a hose-end sprayer? Have you read the Kelp Help article? 4oz Kelp Extract and 8oz Humic Acid Extract mixed in 2 gallons of water will last a long time, and is much cheaper. I make enough to fill a 1 gallon milk jug, easy to store.

Re: SB's Soil Test 2014

I am due for a Boron/Manganese application. How does it mix with Nitrogen- do they need to be separated? If so, I am thinking of skipping it in favor of the fall Nitrogen applications.

Re: SB's Soil Test 2014

I searched, but could not find an answer to this. I think it is recommended to wait 2 weeks after applying lime to apply nitrogen. Does this include Bay State or just Urea? What are the negative effects if applied too close together?

Here's a site I use. UMass puts out a weekly message broken down by sections of Massachusetts.

No pics yet. Trees are flowering, so it looks like there is snow on the lawn for the next week.

Re: SB's 2012 KBG Reno Part 2

This is the second spring post-reno. I wanted to update the progress. This reno is small, with two sections separated by a walkway. I treated each side differently in 2013, so I'll update both separately. Left Side Spring 2013- I had approximately 10-20% POA Annua in the spring of 2013. I hit it wit...

On the ferts I can get SOP and Espoma Triple Phosphate. What are the application rates?

Re: SB's Soil Test 2014

I have leftover micro's from last year, so I'm good to go there.

I will take a look at what I can get for fertilizer.

I have plenty of Bay State and will work on the iron.

Thanks for the analysis.

Re: SB's Soil Test 2014

The sampling process was pretty much identical to 2013. The only thing I did differently this year was to remove debris from the bag of soil- pebbles, sticks, roots, etc. The part of the yard that was tested is 2,200 sqft broken in to two sections, one reno'd in 2012 (700 sqft), and the other reno'd...

Re: Class Of 2013: How Are Renovations Waking Up?

Not really growing yet, but the color is good (Blueberry 70%, Midnight 15%, and Prosperity 15%). Can see that annua is going to be an issue, very apparent against the dark green grass. No winter kill, but ~10% bare spots that didn't germinate in the fall. Can't wait to watch them fill-in.

Re: SB's 2013 KBG Reno

I did have some, but it wasn't as noticeable in a mixed lawn I guess. It also seems to be mostly around the trees, same as my '12 reno.

Re: SB's 2013 KBG Reno

Week 10 / Day 56 This picture was taken just after a mowing. The light spots are Tenacity bleaching. It looks like I have some Annua. I didn't get anything to germinate during 24 days of fallowing, so I believe it could be in the seed??? I also used Tenacity at seeding. It is sod quality seed from o...
