Re: Reminder: Time to Start Prepping for Summer

Thanks Andy, Great List to post, organizing my battle plan today and this is just what was needed. Picked up something new while trying to buy milorganite at Site one, Clarus Dynamic Duo, wonder if there are opinions on this product. Didnt see any in the search, exactly the same as Scream Green Fert...

Re: Star of Bethlehem

Good question, In the past I used Dismiss for both Star of Bethlehem and Nutsedge but now only a licensed applicator can use Dismiss in Connecticut and some other states. I just received Sedgehammer for use on the nutsedge but Sedgehammer does not treat Star of Bethlehem according to the label. I wi...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

First year participant in the aggressive Fall nitrogen regimen. Having experienced a lackluster summer with much fungus pressure I woke up the lawn 21 days ago with an milorganite feeding and completed two urea applications, initial results looked promising, I had also increased my irrigation freque...

Re: Thoughts on 2020 Summer Sesaon Results

I agree with you Andy, this summer was tough. Most summers, my local climate is humid as I am one mile from the LI Sound, but this summer seemed more humid with many consecutive nights with high temperatures than previous summers. I irrigated but did not use any fungicides and the results are too ma...

Re: Boom Sprayer Recommendation

Today I bought and assembled a Fimco 30 Gallon Trailer Sprayer from Tractor Supply. I will be first to admit that sprayers are my least liked pieces of lawn equipment, they just don't seem to last. I really wanted one of the new Chapin 97761 Sprayer Mixes on Exit 25 gallon Tow Behind sprayer but cou...

Re: So when do we drop the PreM?

Thanks Andy, my lawn is not starting to green up yet so yes it is dormant. I will wait for the green up. I notice all my neighbors with their northern mix lawns are greened up, but that grass should green up sooner. I had noticed in previous years when I had done a better job fertilizing in the fall...

Re: Broadcast Spreader Recommendations

I have a Lesco 50 LB spreader from Site One -- have used it on 10,000 SQ FT Lawn for about 4 years -- very reliable and easy to use. The 50 LB spreader has a black powder coated steel frame which is fine for me. If you want the 80 LB Lesco spreader it has a stainless steel frame and the price is con...

Re: So when do we drop the PreM?

I am in Milford CT and will drop my PreM today, I noticed my KBG lawn is is more gray this year that last, probably from not doing a good job late fall fertilizing and having a warm wet winter. Anyone considering fertilizing a little earlier this year? I know normally early fertilization is not the ...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?

Looking at my pale KGB Lawn that I did not fertilize after September 1 last year, my fault. Can't do anything about it now, just be patient, it will green up soon. This year I will not miss fall and early winter feeding.

Re: Lowering Turf Lip?

I tackled this issue during the renovation. I thought of renting a sod cutter but skipped that because it would have entailed removing the irrigation heads from the hell strip, too much work and expense for me. After scalping the dead grass the lips were still prominent composed of soil and dead gra...

Tenacity down, waited a bit too long, see many weed seedlings and just a few grass blades. We have had temperatures in the low eighties most days. Still fine tuning the irrigation coverage.

Re: Orangehills 2016 Fall Renovation

Seed down and rolled on Saturday 9/10. Had to abandon all the extras, with exception of some grading/leveling due to running out of growing season. Gained access to a drag mat which really improved the appearance of the leveled areas. Updated Image of sample area: https://s16.postimg.cc/4ib5n1oup/IM...
