Re: Anyone get attacked by spurge ever?
Are you guys sure it was spurge if round up (and Tenacity) killed it? Maybe after 3 apps but I've found with one app round up has little-no effect on my parking lot spurge. I've tested Sulfentrazone(sp) recently, seems to be working. I've tried Tenacity on Spurge, no effect for me. http://www.msutu...

Re: Mower types (mulching)
I have a 7HP Toro Super Recycler and the cut from it looks amazing. Starts every time with one easy pull, and never bogs down.... of course I'm not mowing a tall field with it.

Re: Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate????
l'm guessing that our recent couple days of 96º weather would be a bad time. haha Luckily, my color is great right now anyhow. A couple weeks ago while at Lowes, they had a stack of Scott's Green Max at the lawn and garden checkout. It did have quite a decent amount of iron, so I grabbed a bag. Man,...

Re: Ferrous Ammonium Sulfate????
Reviving an old thread!!! Last year, I applied some Ferrous Sulfate purchased via eBay with a sprayer. Results were OK, but not outstanding like when I applied Ferromec AC. Perhaps, Ferromec also has Ammonium in it to really give that extra dark kick. So, also having read Morpheus' blog, I too am tr...

Re: Mature sedge...
To add more evidence to this evil sedge stuff, yesterday my daughter was riding her bike down by my neighbors house and came back with this "flower". I was like "WHHHHHAAAATTTTT???? Throw that in the trash!" A full 20" tall. http://s1.postimage.org/sQ_Ei.jpg Apparently they missed this at the edge o...

Re: Mature sedge...
hehehehe, if the whole yard was sedge(and mowed) at least it would be green. what, the guy is going to kill off the sedge and go for total brown? Yeah, good point! Usually he is one that will mow several times a week (although he has had a bit of health issues lately) so I'm not sure if he just doe...

Re: Mature sedge...
While walking down to the mailboxes yesterday after work, I was really blown away by just how bad my neighbors sedge is now...... so I snapped some cell phone pics for your enjoyment. Bad lighting conditions but you hopefully can see the amount that we are dealing with. His actual yard has a TON of ...

Re: Whole Milk Application (Pasteurized)
I haven't seen any mention lately of what everyone's take was on the use of milk. I'm guessing that it wasn't overly spectacular results. I did an application myself and it definitely didn't seem to hurt.

Re: Mature sedge...
I have a next door neighbor that hasn't mowed in about 2 weeks due to the massive heat spell that we have recently had. His yard typically looks pretty decent but with his fescue grass real toasty and the nutsedge about 6-8 inches tall, it's easy to see just have much he has....... a LOT! Several ye...

So, can we see the color swatch that resembles a realistic look of emblem? Please?
I too had instant drool when I saw that pic. That blue is awesome!

Re: Any way to affect the blueness of grass?
Morph, that sky blue overtone spark is exactly what I am looking for. However, if you remember anything from me last season, I was always WAYYY low on iron. Lots of Milorganite and routine foliar iron treatments did have it looking great last year. Already this season, the lawn looks pretty amazing ...

Haha, good point! Maybe I'll just add some Blueberry Koolaid to the Ortho whenever I spray my iron, molasses or whatever.

Re: Cheap Milorganite!!!
I just purchased several bags at Meijer today for $8.99. Last year, barely a month or two into the season, they dropped their Milorganite to $6.74 and called it a clearance for the rest of the year. Meanwhile, Walmart kept theirs right at $12 the whole time. Oh yeah, right next to it was a large bag...

Re: About time to start living in the lawn again!
Wow, thanks for all the suggestions. I was somewhat just pointing out that I didn't see any Starter with siduron. If it were there, I probably would buy a bag, but dealing with shipping seems crazy unless it's a ship to store option like Ace. I just don't want to use Halts or anything like that in c...

Andy, have you actually tried it out yet? I am interested in seeing how fast the Honda can go with self-propelled. Typically, I hate self-propel because they are either not fast enough for my back yard walking pace or I am fighting against them when turning or something similar...... so I have alway...

About time to start living in the lawn again!
Well, now that my work is giving me a bit of a break, and the snow is finally off the yard, I'm anxious to get back to growing some sweet grass. Seemed like forever for all the snow to finally go away and reveal the yard, and now we are experiencing quite a bit of rain. I have been keeping up with t...

Re: Lawn Striping
Now that my bluegrass has really, REALLY went nuts and started looking real good, I have been playing around with more creative mowing. I am really liking what I have done the last couple mows. I have a water meter in the middle of my front yard so I have been doing circles radiating from that. The ...

Re: Finally, seeds are down(Day 1)
For me, I did a small reno a couple months back and last Sunday I redid the spots that were washed out. (all KBG Mag3 mix). Since we didn't have a massive downpour to wash these out, I should be good. In a week or so I will be overseeding my entire front lawn for good measure. I am currently killing...
