Re: Propiconazole add surfactant?
My generic 14.3 propiconazole is labeled that a surfactant aids in efficacy, but treatment without won’t lessen the efficacy. Sounds kinda circular in logic. I always add a tablespoon on spreader sticker when tank mixing. My thought is that if the plant absorbs the product through its leaf, the more...

Grass/Grassy Weed ID Please
My renovated TTTF is on year 4. This year is the first year I’ve noticed patches of the grass pictured. It’s very fine bladed and extremely dark. Although my TTTF is pretty dark, this stuff sticks out like a sore thumb to me. Ideas what it might be?? https://i.postimg.cc/18G1DT88/381-D4-D4-C-723-E-4...

Re: Brown Patch Treatment Success
Since originally posting this thread, I have had very minimal disease pressure even though temps have been generally 90's/70's with high dew points of close to 80. Fast forward to today. The latest wave of brutal humidity about a week ago has brought a small outbreak even though I have been applying...

Re: Brown Patch Treatment Success
The AI in heritage is Azoxystrobin. You can buy it to be mixed called "Strobe". This is what I will be rotating with propiconazole this summer. A study I read put Azoxystrobin as the very best fungicide there is with very little chance of immunity. It's pricey but if you do the math it's alot cheap...

Re: Brown Patch Treatment Success
Weather has still been in the 90's with dew points as high as 80 on a regular basis. I am happy to say that, other than two small spots, I've kept brown patch at bay. I've read some literature out of Clemson Univ. that recommends Headway (Heritage + propiconizole) since resistance seems to lesson wi...

Re: Brown Patch Treatment Success
Great post, Jason! Glad you're having success. To anyone duplicating this approach: Just make sure you read and abide by the Headway/Heritage/Propiconzole labels as far as repeat apps and rotation are concerned! Headway contains a lot less than the 14.3% Propi, but exactly the same amount of active...

Brown Patch Treatment Success
I haven't posted in a long time, but thought this might be helpful: Weather in central Illinois has been in generally in the upper 80's low to mid-90's with lows in the 70's with dew points from 68-75 since the last third of May. I didn't get my preventative fungicide program started early enough an...

Re: No Peeing Signs?
4 new observations about dog urine. 1. After installing a Nest doorbell camera, which also films my entire front yard, I've noticed that most dog walkers do not use the watering cans I set out to dilute dog urine. (Only 3 of 17 people on camera used it) I honestly thought people used it since the ca...

Re: No Peeing Signs?
I live a block from my city's most popular park. My house is on a side street that leads to the park. We have lots of foot traffic, which means many dog walkers. As a dog owner myself, I know how hard it is to control where your dog pees while walking it. So, about three years ago I decided to buy t...

Re: Houston we have a problem -- TTTF turning brown/dying
Had sour mulch dumped on my driveway a few years back. Some spilled onto the edge of the front turf. Browned the grass. The advice I got my Gary was to let it be and don't overwater it. It could suffocate the roots of already stressed turf. In two weeks and a few mows, you couldn't even tell it was ...

Re: Grub Control, Fungus Control, & Dimension
Man, it's almost as if Spring is not a good time to seed. ;) Don't ask me how I know this, but the wait time to apply a pre-m when spring seeding could lead to applying so late that the pre-m is still strong enough to prevent seeds from germinating come late summer when "the optimum seeding window" ...

Re: Soil Temps are now in the upper 60's in TN - Grub Preventative?
Bayer has Metit/Imidacloprid and doesn't need as much time to work into the roots as does Chlora... Grren is correct. You are going to need to target the next generation of grubs. These grubs come from the eggs that the beetles will lay in late summer and hatch thereafter. You are south of me, but I...

Re: What can I salvage??
+1 on waiting until fall. I, too, have TTTF and you get that patchy/chunky look this time of year when some of your turf is waking up, while surrounding areas are hitting the snooze button. Plus, TTTF is a bunch type and doesn't look as uniform as KBG when waking up. My turf looked like yours 3 week...

Re: The Dreaded Traffic on Frozen Grass
That's my hope Green. Now, if I can keep the rabbits from feasting on the grass...When you have the only green lawn on the block, it's like having a big "Open" sign for those pests. I've already filled 2 of their warrens, trapped 3 and relocated them, I spray Liquid Fence weekly, and I have a solar ...

The Dreaded Traffic on Frozen Grass
I know this topic has been beat to death, both on Best Lawns and other forums, but a recent real-life example has me convinced. No traffic on frozen grass is good traffic. We had an ice-event last weekend. The mailman was delivering on Sunday and his safety trumped the health of my renovated front t...

Re: Rabbits!
So, I think I may have found the solution. They were living under my porch. We have an older bungalow, with a long porch where leaves and other debris collect. I read where Rabbits hate soggy conditions. So, I sprayed water everywhere, basically making a soggy mudpit. Fingers crossed.

human urine wait. did you pee on them? throw urine bottles? Mark the perimeter of your lawn like an alpha male after drinking beer or coffee? :good: I drink a lot of coffee.... Re: Rabbits!
I don't know if this is an endorsement or not. I found that the only thing that controls deer long-term is Liquid Fence. It says it is a rabbit repellent too. If it's half as good as it is on deer, there's your solution. I am currently going through another spray bottle of it as we speak. Hasn't se...
