Re: What common turf herbicides reek the most?
Turflon Ester. It's like spraying moth balls or something all over.

Re: How fast does your KBG grow?
My mutt of a KBG yard has been growing almost 4" per week. Currently trying to keep the HOC at 3.5" and I'm having to mow twice a weeks to keep it that low. I think I've run my sprinklers once or twice this spring but we've received a lot of good soaking rains so far. Had very little in the way of s...

Stupid Ice Storms!
2020 never fails to deliver! I've spent 6 years adding more and more trees to my backyard and front to get enough shade in OK to grow KBG decently. But oh no no, Oklahoma has to get ice storms. Last 3 days my trees got piled on with about an inch of ice. If the leaves had fallen, damage probably wou...

When you say "bottle rates" are we talking the rates printed on the directions for each bottle for, say, a 1K square foot area?

Re: Ken-n-Nancy's 2020 "Driveway Side" Lawn Renovation
I feel like I just spent the summer at your place after reading this complete account of the road process! Sorry about the hydroseed, but I bet you guys will get it back in tip top shape soon enough. I still can't believe how well your yard looks for August. It's amazing. Good luck guys can't wait t...

Man I love it when people deep dive on the answers in a full science answer. I think I got goosebumps reading Morpheus' answer. S1impl, did you ever reseed the areas dying back? Just curious. I remember pics of your yard years ago it looked really good. I think I also recall that you mowed it with a...

Re: A Scalping question
I think the answer to "what's the point in babying it" is so it's healthy when you hit it with Round Up. But I'm like you, I'd rather see a scalped area than clumpy K31 driving me crazy. Don't know if the logic holds up though.

My summer fertilizer of choice is water. Hopefully in the form of rain, but I'll use the synthetic city version if I need to.

Re: New Sod Wiped out by Fungus
I think the introduction of a new fungus resistant grass would be a great idea. I think a good organic fertilizer (1/2 strength) would be okay considering your lower temps. I'm not familiar with your climate or if your yard goes dormant or gets stressed out. Smaller doses should be okay. We'll see i...

Re: New Sod Wiped out by Fungus
Hey vetrano! What are the temps up in Ontario right now? Have you used any fungicide to stop the black spots? To me, it almost looks like the sod had two or three varieties and one of them survived. But honestly, if I had that density of MY bare spots heading into fall, I would be hesitant to overse...

Dang Andy, that looks great! I always admire the climate diversity around here. Your grass is in the wakeup phase and mine is wanting to go dormant! Lawn looks fantastic.

Re: Moles? Voles? Other?
I'm with wally. I've had a lot of that damage before (looks very similar). It was raccoons for me. I think raccoons, skunks, and possums? will all dig for surface insects. I set out a little trap with some cat food in it and caught 3 of them.

Re: Getting rid of Greenbriar
Okay, I’ve noticed about 30 looks but no replies and I’ll do it. Everyone’s thinking it soooo...sweet mother almighty. That stuff looks like hell. Does it pop up from multiple stems? I don’t see much foliage. Glyphosate, I think, doesn’t work as well on stems as leaves. Cut stems though might be an ...

Growth Regulator vs Spring Growth
Okay, just trying to get a count of who/if anyone uses a PGR to control their spring growth. I'm mowing about 2 times a week now and taking off over an inch per time in certain parts of the yard. Thinking about telling the yard to take it easy in certain areas with a PGR.
Thoughts?

It looks like to me... Pic 2 is definitely Poa A. Pic 1 though looks like Poa A as well, just the seed stalks. But it looks like they are dying? Don't know how. Pic 3 looks like dandelion out the door. They might have formed the Fuzz before you killed them and the death of the dandelion might have o...

Happy Early Spring Time Everyone!!
I'm sitting outside right now and it's 93F. We'll cool down to the 70's for the foreseeable future tomorrow though. Just wanted to post a "Current Pic" so I can remember in the middle of summer that my lawn actually looked good for a bit this spring! Took about 1 1/2 inches off yesterday and mowing ...

Re: Bare spots in spring
I think your plan sounds okay unless you are applying seed all over instead of just the bare spots. Prodiamine can be applied to the good areas. Tenacity to the spots receiving seed. I'd reapply prodiamine to the bare areas after germination/establishment. Might have another user double check me tho...
