Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Yeah those pictures in the back look about exactly how it does every year. I can see a bunch of new grass has germinated but the winter takes a toll back there.

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Here's are update on the lawn. The front which is almost full sun and gets a little more tlc is looking great for early May, one now into the season. The back is more patchy with some winter spots as pet the usual arrangement with the Shady and wet back yard. https://i.postimg.cc/sBptGkVc/IMG-202205...

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

I apologize, I'll get some updated pictures up later. It wintered very well and already looks great.

Soil temps are 55 in Mpls and I overseeded in the fall. Am I ok to apply a pre-emergent or should I hold off on that given continued germination of the kentucky blue?

Re: MN Shade Overseed

Thanks Morph, how about a blend like this (I got my Mazama from these guys last year). Or would you suggest something that's less of a blend?

MN Shade Overseed

Good morning, I have a friend who bought a new home and is looking to overseed this spring and potentially again in the fall if needed. I would almost never recommend anything but KBG myself but he literally has a home in a forest and it will likely be shade much of the day on most of his lawn. Also...

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Lol! That works. We'll, it already stalls my mower. It most certainly will next year. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Sorry Andy, typo - slit seed.

Because during the spring and summer there is a bunch of poa annua which I presumed would turn white and thin out allowing an overseed in its place. I'm just not seeing much yellowing or thinning, at least in the front.

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

I'm three weeks in to my Tenacity treatment and about a week to ten days out from overseed. I am not experiencing as much yellowing as I anticipated and the grass is pretty thick. Any ideas for how I should go about the overseed. Andy, I know you suggested not to split seed and I know the recommenda...

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Thanks Morph, that's very helpful. I guess it wouldn't be fair to say that the yard is struggling, I've put off doing the overseed the last couple years because it looks so nice this time of year. However, poa annua has found its way in especially along the edges and I have a fair amount of creeping...

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Lbs per thousand for an already established lawn? 2 per 1000? 3 per 1000?

Thanks,
Bb

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Thanks Andy, probably roughly something like this. July 10 - Tenacity, Milorganite July 25 - Tenacity, Milorganite August 5 - seed (starter, milorganite, pest moss) August 10 - Tenacity, Milorganite August 25 - Tenacity, Some nitrogen, Milorganite You don't think the seed to soil matters at all? No ...

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Good questions Andy. I think I'd like the poa/bent to be properly stressed at time of seeding. This may actually require me to manually rip some of the bent up to get the seed down to the soil. It then would be nice to apply a couple more times post seed to address any weeds attempting to compete wi...

Morph - Milo is 32lb and BCA is 36. I bought 20 bags last night and may go back and pick up another 20 sometime soon "while supplies last"

It'll be a Christmas tree trimming party over here for a while...

Re: MN KBG Overseed 2021

Thanks guys, I bought 50 lbs of mazama per recommendation above.

Next question, I've got a bunch of poa annua, a little bit of creeping bent etc that I'd like to kill/stress by the time I seed. Tenacity seems to take months, if I plan to seed in August should I start my tenacity now?

Bca Anytime

I see this stuff at fleet farm, looks nearly identical in nutrient analysis to Milorganite if not better. $6 per bag instead of $10 for Milorganite.

Anyone used it? Opinions?
