Re: First Time Homeowner Looking for Help

It's hard to tell from the picture, is there enough of a grade that your mower scalps that section when mowing it. (assuming you are going from the road up to the yard? Looks like there is a slope there but can't tell for sure.

Re: Late Pre-em for transition zone?

I'm not an expert at all but I use the Prodiamine 65 WDG. The directions have different application rates so you can better control when it 'wears off". You could use a little less to help control germination the next few months and still be able to overseed this fall. That is what I did.

Re: Sharpening my own blades; what tool to use

Curios, if you ended up getting anything? I am thinking about sharpening my own instead of having someone else do it.

Re: Best time to kill and reseed?

I live in Indiana and over the past 6 or so years I have been killing off and re-seeding sections of my 5 acre yard. I do an acre at a time and due to the distance from my house I have to rely on mother nature for irrigation. The last acre sections that I did I would spray them with round up in earl...

Re: Prodiamine rate question

I put it down tonight on 2 acres of my lawn. I did 3/4 pound per acre, hoping to be able to overseed both areas this fall.

Re: So when do we drop the PreM?

I put mine down today, maybe a little early but part of the yard I was applying it to holds water in the spring. It's been dry enough this week that I could drive the mower over it withou leaving ruts, plus they are calling for rain the next several days. If I didn't do it today and we get enough ra...

Re: Prodiamine rate question

How soon after this is applied should it be watered in? I am doing several acres and plan to put it down tomorrow. There is a 50-60% chance of rain tomorrow night and then rain in the forecast for the next several days after that. If I put it down tomorrow and we don't end up getting rain for a day ...

Re: Prodiamine rate question

Thanks
I checked the label, looks like since I have a 25 gallon sprayer I can used 3/4 pound mixed in 25 gallons and spray that over 1 acre for 4 months control. Should be good to reseed after August.

Prodiamine rate question

Due to the size of my lawn (almost 4 acres of grass) I have to try to do the best I can without breaking the bank. I try to apply a Pre M, use some tri mec/24 D a couple time a year and then a winterizer fert application around Thanksgiving. I did a reno of an acre of the yard 2 years ago. This year...

Late nitrogen question

In the past I have put my winter nitrogen down around Thanksgiving, once temps get in the low 50's and top growth stops. Due to some scheduling issues I wasn't able to put any down this year and figured I would not get it down. The ground had frozen here in central Indiana but this week the snow tha...

Re: Tenacity question

Saturday I put down the Pre M I got from my friend on the new reno. We got a good heavy rain on Sunday. Last night I mixed up 1 pound of of the WDG with 30 gallons of water and spread it over an acre from the reno a couple years ago. I am curious to see which seems to preform better. We are supposed...

Re: Tenacity question

So I ordered a 5 lbs of the prodiamine wdg from amazon and it should be here on Monday. After I ordered that my buddy brought me over 4 bags of granular prodiamine/fert. I think it was like 14-0-6 or something, I cant remember now. I went ahead and put that on the reno from last year since we are su...

Re: Tenacity question

Since posting this I have read some more about Tenacity. Some links say it is better suited for spot treatment as apposed to a broadcast application from a tank sprayer. How do you guys use it?

Tenacity question

I have been DIY'ing most of my lawn needs for many years. I usually take the easiest approach which includes 2 4D once or twice a year and fall application of Urea. My yard is huge (5 acres) so I go the cheap route and don't sweat the other stuff. Some of you remember I did 2 separate renovations ov...

Anyone here from DC?

I would like to get my hands on some cuttings from a Yoshino Cherry blossom tree from DC. I know a little bit about the history and have visited during the cherry blossom festival. I obviously don't want someone to try to go to the Whitehouse or the national mall and cut one of those but thought som...

Re: Frost/Freeze Right On Time

We were right on time too here in Indiana. Quick question on my overseed from last month. We have had 2 frost this week, nothing real hard but frost none the less. Does the frost's cause all the new growth to stop or will it still move some since we are still getting into the high 50's during the day?

Re: Starting phase II of 5 acre reno.

I already put down some N. The seed is TTTF ( I don't have the tag in front of me with the name brand etc.). I do plan to apply a pre m this spring. I picked up a new tank sprayer and a new tow behind spreader this month so I am ready......I can mow that section with my mower and not have to turn on...
