Re: What's Going on With My Lawn?

I had it too... called the Local John Deere Lesco (or whatever its called now) they got dozens of calls about it as well. They called University of Rhode Island and was told it was due to the rapid cooling and freezing of the turf. Made worse by walking on it.
It will grow out.

Re: What the heck happened to my lawn!

I remember reading that if your spreader is causing striping then going horizontally and then vertically will create a checkerboard effect.

Re: Milorganite shortage and data compliance issue in Indiana

Guys...Maybe I'm not stating my question properly. So let me try again. The spreader settings on the bag have not changed with the reduction of product in the bag. So, how can we get the same coverage regardless of the change in formula?

Re: Milorganite shortage and data compliance issue in Indiana

Hoosier,
Perhaps "scamming" is the wrong term. I can't figure out how 32# will give the same coverage as 36# when the spreader settings on the bag have not changed, regardless of the N-P-K ratio.

Re: Milorganite shortage and data compliance issue in Indiana

Just realized that the bag now contains only 32#. The explanation on the Miloganite site says that its because they upped the percentage to 6-4-0. But I just looked a bag that I bought from H.D. a few weeks ago and its the 36# bag. So, are we being scammed?

Re: New sod now has tons of Poa Annua

The landscaper's lawn expert came out to look at the lawn. He was speechless!!! He didn't know what to tell me other than "we'll have to wait and see what the sod farm says. He walked around looking at it and just shook his head. He agreed that the sod came with the annua last October when it was in...

Re: New sod now has tons of Poa Annua

I looked at the seed heads and stalk and the ligule is present. So it is definitely annua. So, how or what do I say to the landscape company that installed it?

New sod now has tons of Poa Annua

Last October I had several thousand square feet of KBG sod installed. This spring I noticed tons of Annua all over the place. It was not evident when the sod was installed or any time till this year. I know that Poa Annua goes to seed in the spring and then germinates when the weather cools off in t...

I haven't had rust in 20 years. I didn't realize that I had it this year until after I finished mowing and my shoes were orange.

How long to put down 1" of water

I have been having some heat stress issues on some sections of my lawn. I usually run each zone for 2 hours. So, this morning I put out a tuna can and ran it for two hours. I was shocked to see only 1/2 inch of water in the can. Is this normal? They are Hunter I-20 heads.

Thanks

Does anyone have a suggestion for a product that will work for this application method? i.e. Scotts, Vigoro, Lesco etc.

Thanks

Re: soil test question

I got my vegetable garden soil test results from Logan Labs. Can someone possibly tell me if 1550 lbs/acre of phosphorus is high or low or just right. It's the Mehlich III Phosphorus test. That is extremely high. Thanks Andy, I was kinda thinking that too but wanted to be sure. Must be from years o...

I was in the same boat so, I mowed part of my lawn yesterday while it was damp. Had to bag because it was just too difficult to mulch. Wasn't too bad though.
