Re: Milorganite sale

Maybe a cheese shortage? Yeah, no joy on LI for organic bargain hunters. And I bet the nonorganics are going to get scarce as well. With all that they are finding in the ground water, laws are evolving. Not that it's a bad thing, but it's coming. As far as the Milo, I may have to go to NJ for Oceang...

;) you're forgetting that I live near a ton of sod farms. There's fun stuff around!
But seriously, Mazama looks promising for the OP, had he not made a choice already. May still be available near me.

Has anyone looked into this one? I'm watching it, and I may do a test plot this spring. Im betting (blindly) on it being a sleeper.

Re: Happy Birthday ~1 year old - Midnight Monostand Pics

Looks Awesome! I think Midnight is unsung. I have a tiny 4x8 section that I use as a control plot. I don't feed it, I hardly water it, and it out performs the rest of my yard. I think it's more aggressive than people say too. I'm always cutting it out of the beds. Sent from my iOS device using the Y...

Re: Summer Patch Survival Thread...

I'm unlucky in similar spots every year. Over and over, I seed the same area. I am lucky however, geographically. I can walk into a number of sod farms and buy premium seed. This year it's Cabernet/Blue Coat/Blue Note. Some patch tolerance there. I passed on one that claimed shade tolerance and dise...

Re: Summer Patch Survival Thread...

I feel the need to comment on this. I have seen you make that statement about the compost before. Well, after doing various spring and fall touchups, I have drawn a conclusion. The seed that goes down with the compost does much better. Furthermore, I have noticed on more than one occasion, that with...

Results of Minimal Effort

I've got a couple of neighbors that have begun their journey down the lawn care rabbit hole.. They'd love me to help. They used to just poke fun at me, now They're starting to ask me for tips. I heard from one guy, that when he makes jokes, his wife tells him to stop because, well...."it looks reall...

This kind of enthusiasm is why I love this site. When I Milo, I'm often tempted to run a stripe across the neighbors as an eye opener.

Re: NEED HELP, DISEASE EVERYWHERE,MELTING OUT OR LEAF SPOT?

On Gary's observation, examine what's being effected. If you've got fescue in there, with cool damp weather, my bet is net blotch. That's what happens to me. If it is, Propicanizole helps, daconil should too. I've never taken it further than that. Keep it trim,Bag the clippings. Blow it dry if you h...

Sorry to be off topic TT.
It was a long, round-about way of saying that I will delay lowering due to some some local observations.

Re: Lowering the cut for fall

I went all spring and summer super high, and never even got fungus. This year. (small sample size) It's been relatively hot but also relatively dry for my area. Also after two years or so on BL/ATY, I've gained respect for spring nitrogen (or lack thereof) I don't golf, but I eyeball the local cour...

Aww shucks..... And I went all spring and summer super high, and never even got fungus. This is a milestone for me..
I like the tight look, but I'll need some length to hide all the mulched leaves come October.

Re: How high are you mowing?

Had a few days teetering on 90 degrees, but it's growing like crazy. I think I'll have to max it out this week. I can only get one now a week lately. I get a little flop over, but anything else would be taking half off.
