Re: Close to deciding on seed Hogan Fescue Mix?

Hogan Seed is good stuff...I sometimes wish I would have stayed with my mix of Hogans and KBG

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Today was the last day of the OceanGro sale so I took a ride down to Whiting not too far from the Jersey Pine Barrens this morning and picked up 20 bags. Spread 5 yards of mulch which I normally hv done by now and regretted it as its way more difficult to do after all the tulips hostas and ornamenta...

Re: KBG Green-Up

It's never too late for Pre em as there are always weeds to try and prevent...Scotts weed preventer is safe to apply when seeding but it only lasts 6 weeks so a follow up app is a must

Re: Dealing with rabbits

Packing stuff under the deck isn't going to help and will just give them better places to hide. You should be able to put something up around the bottom of your deck to prevent the rabbits from going under. A lot of ppl use I believe it's called lattice that can be nailed or screwed on which has hol...

Re: Is this annual bluegrass

When KBG goes to seed there is usually a tough stalk in the middle with the seed heads close together towards the top vs Annual Bluegrass / Annua which has more of a limp blade with seedheads sticking out up and down

Re: Does Tenacity cause Poa Annua to go to seed?

Yes it does, the Annua gets pissed off after being sprayed and stress seeds which is why I have been cutting and bagging every two days bc I can't stand to look at seed heads

The first pic almost looks like KBG going to seed, can't tell anything from second pic but as Andy said, yes on the third pic

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Cut and bagged today as I'm still dealing with Annua heads and if that wasn't enough I noticed rust throughout the front and some of the back.

Today is one of those days when I question if this is all worth it as the more I try to improve my lawn the worse it seems to get

Re: Dealing with rabbits

How about preventing them from getting under the deck? I'd also vote against poison as you can't guarantee only the rabbit will eat it. I've been dealing with raccoons since October and admit the thought has crossed my mind but I really don't want to do it and also don't want a yard full of dead ani...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Cut and bagged yesterday before dropping first app of Jonathan Green Magical and Love Your Lawn Love Your Soil

Tenacity is really kicking in as bleaching is in full effect. I'm itching to drop some Milo but prob won't be dropping any until May at this point while I'm aggressively attacking the Annua

I think Jonathan Green sells a product now to lower PH in addition to the Magical they sell to raise it, might be worth a look

Re: Grass seems dry - should I raise blades?

Your grass blades are really chewed up so something is going on there. Did you mulch or bag last cut? I'm going to guess and say you mulched and if so this could be caused by taking too much off at one time and or clippings getting packed under deck preventing clippings from flying around and being ...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Hit the Annua with round 2 today using my Chapin 20v sprayer

Im not completely surprised by the amount of Annua considering the mild winter we had but starting to think I should change my my lawn type to say I have an Annua /Bewitched mix...or I guess I should say blend

Re: Fill In or Re-Seed?

Depends on the type of lawn you have. If you have a KBG lawn then I'd recommend moving some plugs and letting it fill in since KBG spreads well but if you have a Tall Fescue lawn which doesn't really spread then I'd recommend reseeding

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Changed oil and sharpened blades on both mowers, lawn was high so decided to cut and bag before rolling entire lawn.

I'm gonna feel this tomorrow
