Re: Should I resoil/sand after I Aerate

Yes, they are rigid, they are a thick somewhat durable blade, much like the blade of an edger only there are a lot of them lined up and spaced about 3/8 inch apart.

Re: Should I resoil/sand after I Aerate

I would go with a slit seeder rental from Grand Rental Station close to you in Cary. I live in Holly Springs and have rented one from them before I bought a used rental myself. Get one with the ”delta blades". Using this aggressively will knock down high spots, unearth small stones, and start the p...

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

Lots of leafy weed in the yard as I carried no pre-emergant through the winter. I used the weed hound to take out *all* the pao annua I could find (grassy weed). I'll get the other leafy weeds with an agressive scalp, pre-emergant, and spot Celsius later.... I just do not allow POA annua to go to se...

Re: Manual reel that cuts lower than 1/2

Sorry it took so long to reply to your post. I wrote a detailed post about modifying a manual reel mower, I think it is just like yours.... here is the link: http://aroundtheyard.com/post148488.html#p148488 It has been a long time since I did it so I really don't remember exactly what I did but I th...

Re: Sprayer Wand

Thanks for the original post here, dfw_pilot. While I have not had a chance to use it because of rain, I just want to comment on the fantastic customer service from sprayerdepot.com . I ordered all the parts except the cf valve. They were out of stock on the 26” wand and called me and emailed me to ...

Re: 2016: What did you do on your lawn today?

While not my lawn, Saturday I cut down a neighbor's lawn back and front of (tall) weeds totally with my string trimmer. It has gotten to much for him to manage, and he just started chemo for prostate cancer. He's a Vietnam Vet, too... Good guy. Gonna get some help and do more to get things looking b...

Re: New to Bermuda, looking for advice

After reading up on it, I found out that it is very important to get it watered in very soon after application. Studies show that it will evaporate out quickly as it converts. The soil pH effects it as does higher temps, best not to try to use this without reading up. I really need t be sure of abil...

Re: New to Bermuda, looking for advice

I picked up some of that Lesco 46-0-0 today.... It does say sprayable on the bag.... It is straight urea, I plan on 1lb /k as a half rate, twice monthly since it is fast. I may go a little less since I'll also drop some miloranite. ( I plan to broadcast the urea, not folar spary..…) The 46-0-0 was t...

Re: Leveling project, 2016 progress

When you call, make sure it has the delta blades for this purpose (rather than flail tines). Thanks on the yard, it has improved so much since I got all the help here on ATY/BL.... I may have to raise up a notch.... I would have liked to cut tonight but the storm came through before I got off work.....

Re: Leveling project, 2016 progress

Hi tbh20, good to see ya here again. I'm the guy you met when I picked up a storage unit from your neighbor... I like to hit it with verticut/slit seeder machine when I scalp as it will help with the leveling and open up the turf for growth, also may require less sand for the next stage of leveling....

Re: 2016: What did you do on your lawn today?

2nd Primo app of the season. I started early to see if it would help keep it tighter this year generally all over. Last previous years some areas were more tight than others.....Also dropped some vitamin M and I *really* hope we get some rain tomorrow. Not that it has to watered in, but we have been...

You might have already, but check the flame arrestor on the muffler for clogging, also any filter in the tank....
That said, I have switched over to 4 stroke on my trimmer....
