Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

The storm came through yesterday with wind gusts of 70 mph. My beautiful big maple tree in my backyard lost 2 huge limbs. Landed in my neighbors back yard. I think the rest of the tree may have to come down. Trouble is, with so much damage all around this area (Hampshire County) my problem will be t...

Actually the squirrels are having a field day going up and down the oak tree dropping the "triple" leaf bunch. Did I mention it's raining acorns also on the neighbors cars? Their driveway, the st...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

Each winter, on average, your risk of frost is from September 28 through May 10. Almost certainly, however, you will receive frost from October 9 through April 26. You are almost guaranteed that you will not get frost from May 24 through September 17. Your frost-free growing season is around 141 da...

Re: Expert Gardener Crabgrass Preventer Plus Fertilizer III

Alright, that clears up some questions, but I'd like to hear what you're thinking for the "November" application. Is that the last "winterizer" app? If so, I'd encourage you to read the "Pause" and Late Fall sections of the "Fall Nitrogen Regimens" thread for the signals and timing of that last app...

Re: Expert Gardener Crabgrass Preventer Plus Fertilizer III

OMG!! ...I see why the confusion. My profile is 1000-3000 sq ft however my whole lawn is 5,000 sq ft. Last year my back lawn was a disaster and deceided to only concentrated on my front (2,500 sq ft). so I changed my profile at that time. This year I was doing the whole front and back lawn (5,000 sq...

Re: Expert Gardener Crabgrass Preventer Plus Fertilizer III

Thanks andy and ken-n-nancy I guess I'll pass on the $7.00 deal. I did apply milo bag rate on Aug. 15 to "wake up" the lawn. Due to heat and lack of rain early on never applied a synthetic fertilizer this season to the lawn. I applied the whole bag of 30-0 4 expert gardener fertilizer with iron just...

My rain gauge says 1" of rain yesterday. I swear the grass grew an inch overnight. Deceided to spot spray CCO to the little clover and wild violets I have. WBG to dandelions and other broadleaf weeds. I think I will drop my HOC to 3" next time... which at the rate it's growing it will happen...

MorpheusPA We actually had "gentle rains" pretty much all day.
Perfect for the fertilizer! :good:
Silly weather people

I looked back at my notes that I've been taking since 2013.
This is usually the time (first few days of Sept) that I've dropped my fertilizer.

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?

So I mowed yesterday and the weather person said spotty showers for today so I didn't apply my fertilizer. Of course I wake up to a light shower about 6 am...then it became a little heavier "shower" Of course they changed the forecast and now said rain until noon. I checked the radar and saw that my...

I've been doing a lot of googling images, and youtube videos....
