Re: SOP as Micronutrients Vehicle

I have numerous times. Is milorganite a better carrier... very possible. But for me I am often putting down my micros when I need to apply SOP, and I am able to make it work.

Re: Where Are You With Fall Regimens?

In the Pause.

My first visible Frost was 10/14. Mowed/Mulched leaves on Saturday and the back yard had almost zero growth and front yard cut probably an inch of grass off still. I have snow coming already on Friday... will not help with my leaf mulching for the near future...

This is not a realistic request, but I would like to see the underside of each. That might be more telling. There is info on their website, but it's hard to tell 100% which deck each of those are.

Re: What Do You Use For A Final Winter HOC?

3" is typically my lowest HOC. I can get lower (2.5") in the back if needed, due to thatch and uneven terrain 2.5" doesn't bode well in front.

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens: How Is It Going?

Making a difference here. I applied more Fall N this year than I have in the past, due to a fungus (presumed) in my front yard that created approx (60) dead spots prior to starting the fall regimen. It has not fully corrected the issue, but it made a big dent. I do believe I will still have some of ...

Re: What's the difference between a cheap lawn tractor and a pricey one?

Agree with much of the above. Somewhat short version -- I am happier with the more expensive mower. When the day is done a brand new $1500 mower will cut your grass, and A $5000 mower will cut your grass. The latter leaves a better cut, drives and rides nicer, and can sometimes be more serviceable a...

Re: Had a feeling this area was going to be problematic!

The wood chips from the stump were left in place? That is going to cause you both short-term and long-term problems. The wood chips will most likely rob your grass of nitrogen and over-time will settle and cause a depression in that area. Not trying to be a jerk at all - just giving you my 2 cents. ...

Re: Potassium Applications as We Move Toward Later-Fall

My last potassium went down last weekend (9/22). I am a member of the secret society of S.O.P. In that I have to "...locate 0-0-50 sulfate of potash"" every year after my soil test. With the struggles I have (on my lawn) I stop applying potassium before October as well - not worth the risk.

ooops. over applied N

On 9/8/18 I applied .85# of Nitrogen (per 1000 sf) using Urea 46-0-0. Had my head up my a$$. I knowingly and willingly dialed in my spreader for a 2#/K application of the product I was spreading and got to work. I was applying (or intending to apply) a ½# of N as part of my continuing fall regimen. ...

Re: Poa Triv eradication plan 2

That makes sense. But my concern right now is that it has not come back yet (see pic below). Or I should say 90% of it is still playing dead. I'd like to wait and kill it after it is thriving again, with the idea I may have a more successful kill. I have leftover seed, and have enough on hand to tec...

Poa Triv eradication plan 2

Started to type a response on a different PoaTriv topic and decided to start my own.. Has anyone here (in similar climate) killed Poa Triv in the fall and then seeded in the spring. With the idea being that after completely killing the triv with multiple apps of glyphosate, it would be too late to r...
