Re: #makinbacon
JustAGuy - That looks pretty good to me. Hopefully mine turns out just as good. The first store that I went to wanted $8.99/lb. I eventually found this half slab for $3.99/lb on sale for $2.99/lb. I see you left the skin on in picture 2. Did you take it off after smoking? That is the approach that ...

Re: #makinbacon
I have made "home made bacon". The hardest part for me was finding pork belly that wasn't extremely expensive. I cured mine for about a week. Then smoked it (not cold smoke) with apple and hickory chips, IIRC until it hit 165. Cutting it can be a PITA. It was some of the best tasting bacon I've had,...

HLG, not too bad. You have been drawing the short straw on the high PH. IIRC the PH in your old house was higher.
Good luck with the new yard.

There was someone here from Temecula that did a reno with TTTF, so I wouldn't rule that out entirely.

If you like that, Intel (and a couple other companies) have "windows on a stick" for a little over $100.Tony alony wrote:Love it !! A shirt pocket computer. It doesn't get any more useful than that.

I think I have POA seeding. I'll try to get a picture soon. [ Post made via Android ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/Android.png I KNOW I have POA seeding. I swear it hasn't stopped seed except for maybe a month this summer. It's one of the other reasons I bagged leaves this year.

Turned the compost pile. It it pretty hot.
I didn't mulch hardly any leave this year because of the new reno. So I've got about 2 cubic yards of leaf multch cooking.

Dropped winterizer yesterday just in time for the rain today.
There was no noticeable top growth this past week. We also had a couple days below 25F last week.

Didn't get full snow cover until November 24 when this pic was taken. ... Looks great! Nice, even color everywhere! Very white, though -- do you think that's due to tenacity bleaching? ;) LMAO :rotfl: [ Post made via Android ] http://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/images/mobile/Android.png

I mowed and bagged today, and found a fare amount of grass clippings. I'll hold off another week and check again. I like to wait a couple weeks of no top growth before dropping urea.

Re: GreenBum's 2015 Fall Reno (Massachusetts)
I'm excited about the rain. But why drop the urea so soon? Has your grass really stopped growing already in MA zone 7? I'm on the MA/NH border in zone 6a, and I'm still seeing growth across the board. I usually don't winterize until Thanksgiving or the beginning of December. I'm with you Tim. I'm i...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens
How do you know to take the 32-degree data? I've seen frost at higher temps. I'm no expert but I'll try to explain what my father who is a farmer tried to teach me. Frost by definition is 32 degrees, however the warmer air rises and the cooler air settles by the ground, so the air temperature recor...
