Re: Georgia Bermuda Grass

Speaking of next door neighbors, the world is a small place... you're my "neighbor"... about 10 houses away... 2290. You definitely have 419 Bermuda like the rest of the neighborhood. I believe I was battling some insect damage this year along with some heavy fungus pressure just like everyone else ...

Re: Zapped82's Lawn Progress

Well, yesterday was the big party I was getting ready for. I took a couple pictures however high noon is not the best time to try and take pictures of anything, much less the lawn. It looks good though. Now to add a little compost to the mix and see how it does although I'm taking a break from exten...

Re: Bermuda Shortage

Definitely a shortage. I work in the landscape industry and we used to be able to order a truckload in the afternoon and have it delivered the next morning. Now the price is 2-3 times what it was 2 years ago and it's about a 10-14 day lead time. Met with one of the larger sod suppliers in the area l...

Re: Zapped82's Lawn Progress

Thanks everyone... going to be hard to cover it all up with some organic in the next couple weeks but I know it will be worth it in the end...

Re: Zapped82's Lawn Progress

Quick update... mowed Sunday evening after managing to get the mower started. Recoil broke and the 3hp Briggs on the Mclane doesn't have a bolt on recoil, it's built in to the cover so I mowed without the cover and it just wasn't acting right, not sure what's going on but I got it mowed and will dea...

Re: Zapped82's Lawn Progress

Thanks, I think so... mowed last night and was surprised how thick it was. I was finally able to actually see where I cut.

Re: Zapped82's Lawn Progress

A quick update.... Had a recommendation to put a little compost down in the bare spots that I had put a little sand in previously so that's what I did(after all, I have plenty). Put down Milorganite at bag rate on Saturday and watered good Sunday morning. Things are certainly looking better each day...

Re: Zapped82's Lawn Progress

Alright, I'll definitely look into it. I've read about several people on here using it but haven't dug in all the way as far as application rates and cost. I'll do some research. Thanks!

Re: Zapped82's Lawn Progress

Thanks for the suggestions, I just put down the starter on Memorial Day so it's just starting to work it's way through. I could see a big difference last night in how green it is. The starter had iron in it as well so it's a nice deep green. As far as scalping, there really isn't much besides where ...

Zapped82's Lawn Progress

Well, I found this site last year about this time and submitted a soil sample for interpretation. Unfortunately I got tied up with other things and was unable to really follow up on the plan so I'm back at it this year. We have some new neighbors who have put a lot of money into some new sod, seed, ...

Re: Zapped82 - First Soil Test - Athens, GA

Barley, I appreciate the detailed response. First things first, while I'm a little young to have grown up really appreciating REM, I do know who they are and do enjoy a few of their more popular songs. That being said, it is my understanding that Michael Stipe still spends a portion of time in the a...

Re: Zapped82 - First Soil Test - Athens, GA

Figured I'd throw in a quick picture of my lawn along with a picture of a plug I pulled (not used for soil sample, just for reference to see what the soil profile looks like). Looks like Georgia Red *!@# (sand) to me... although the soil test along with my soil structure test prove that it is anythi...

Zapped82 - First Soil Test - Athens, GA

I found this site while doing research on how to improve the health of my lawn. The first thing I did was read a lot! Second thing was cancel my lawn service contract, next was taking a soil sample and sending it off to Logan. I just got the results back and wanted to hopefully get some feedback. I ...
