renovation advise
Hi from Phoenix! Short story really long. Skip this if it's too much to read! I hired the people who put in my sod (sloppily) to level all the bumps. Big mistake and it wasn’t cheap. They brought in a crazy 3 or 4 tons of "sod mix" fo only 600 feet. I expressed concern but was blown off. He didn't e...

Re: Help-dying!
Ok you guys know best thanks. That palm tree is 3 times the size as last year and the neighbor's is bigger too. Plus, there is also new small one shading from the east. I really did expect that part to do worse but not like that! The part that gets the most sun and water looks wonderful. I did immed...

Re: Help-dying!
Oh boy I wish it was just shade, but it's dying in all the other places too. And it seemed to happen pretty fast. But yes that is facing west and that area does get only just enough sun. I'm pretty sure I'm losing the whole thing as it's worse today. I threw down some disease ex and am hoping for th...

Help-dying!
Good morning! First off, long story long-I am sorry. I'm always going to post and then something happens or I find a reason I should wait. I think I waited too long to this time. So I've nailed it down to either fungus (too much water, too much shade), bad (old) BLSC/KH,(or too much of it, I knew it...

Re: A couple of questions
Thank you. I quickly realized the post should have been "how do I fix this!"Dchall_San_Antonio wrote: ↑March 28th, 2021, 6:40 pmScalping the runners off is a great idea. You can take it to the ground if you like (with a rented mower). Bermuda will still come back from rhizomes.

Re: A couple of questions
Hi there! Mostly I'm scalping because the Bermuda Bible said to but also I'm hoping to have more of it to look like this 1st picture instead of the 2nd with all of the runners. The starter fertilizer is for phosphorous and yes, advice from last year but it was already a gazillion degrees by then so ...

A couple of questions
Hi all! Happy Spring! Sorry if you're getting snowed on right now I don't mean to be sarcastic. 😊 I'm 1 year out from sodding Tifway 419 and am looking for advise about: 1. How closely I have to scalp. I mowed and bagged a ton at lowest setting and still have many long and sideways growing spots. Th...

Re: Gretta's new lawn 2020 soil test
Ok I got the boron/zinc down and have this: 25-24-4 Scotts Turf Builder Starter Food for New Grass, 3 lb. - Lawn Fertilizer for Newly Planted Grass, Also Great for Sod and Grass Plugs - Covers 1,000 sq. ft. How much, how often and how long to wait from today's milo? (bag rate) I was going to jump in...

Re: Gretta's new lawn 2020 soil test
Well that's not as bad as I'd feared. I've done FAS before so I have the stuff still but I'm going to hold off just to see what things look like without for a while. I'm definitely up for the Boron and Zinc. Twenty Mule in the cupboard and zinc and starter in the cart. Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate - 35....

Re: Gretta's new lawn 2020 soil test
The differences in the test results was a bit of a shock. I really know nothing about soil chemistry so just the difference from the 6 inch to the 4 inch and then the difference with the AA test was crazy to me. (I only knew I might need AA by looking at other peoples tests who you say needed it) I'...

Re: Gretta's new lawn 2020 soil test
Hi Andy, Their mistake and they can apparently just put in the new depth and automatically change all the results. She's emailing me today or tomorrow. I knew it made a difference. I thought I would get the AA when I opted for the "works" because I suspected I might need one--oops. I told her to run...

Gretta's new lawn 2020 soil test
Hi fellow lawnatics! Thanks for taking a look. I was doing great with my last yard but alas, I'm back to the drawing board in a new house-- also in Phoenix. It's small ~600sf and up until 3 mos ago was covered in gravel. For the last year I've been trying to prepare using BL soil conditioner as I wa...

I don't know but I had them by the millions last year but not this year. BTW my lawn looked much better last year. I'm in Phoenix.

Re: Soil Test
The generosity of all the time you guys exhibit helping strangers here is amazing. Thank you so much! Iron sulfate it is. What will I be looking for to change year after year? I should keep on with the grains as well? No more lovely milo smell? Is it safe to assume then that the browning that does h...

Re: Soil Test
I'm reading that caliche never softens when wet so if that's true then I don't have it because even though it takes all day, I can usually water enough to dig a decent hole. But I had a pick axe after those trenches and it wasn't going to happen so...?

Re: Soil Test
Well I definitely know people talk about it around here and it is the hardpan crap but I don't know anything beyond that. It might be the reason I had to hire a guy with a trench digger for the sprinkling system.
