Re: Broadcast Spreader Recommendations
I’d recommend the Echo Spreader RB-60. Fantastic step up from Scott’s Mini/Elite.

Re: What the heck happened to my lawn!
So I put down my urea about 10 days ago and the lawn has stripes all over it. I used a brand new Scott’s Edgeguard spreader. I have never seen this happen before. I think something must have been up with the spreader which resulted in the strips of dark green grass. I am going to check the spreader...

Wait and see what happens. If you get overcrowding which leads to disease...less learned. Otherwise, just let it take its course and report back on progress.

Re: Fall Overseed Questions & Seed Decision
Clarification: a few days after mowing at 3" HOC, you'll notice the fescues in that Black Beauty mix will be at 6" while the KBG/PRG are at 4". I've found the opposite to be true...in my TTTF/KBG mix, the KBG grows faster and gets higher than the TTTF. That very well may be true for your mix of TTT...

Re: Fall Overseed Questions & Seed Decision
Thank you. I was looking at Black Beauty Ultra and it seems like a mostly Fescue mix with tome KBG and perennial rye. Vote here for NOT using/AVOID using JG Black Beauty or Black Beauty Ultra in an established lawn. I had to use some in a pinch last year for some grub damage when I was out of my us...

Re: Milorganite sale
Home Depot price matches plus 10% . If the product is in stock. This worked last year but no match this year from Home Depot, "they are not a direct competitor of ours." At HD, it has a lot to do with who you're asking and what type of day they're having. Also, True Value will price match...if you ...

Re: I hate "Jonathan Green"
Thought of this thread today after finding out that my downtown area uses Jonathan Green 'Black Beauty' Ultra grass seed in some of the sitting/park areas. I think it looks pretty good! especially the dark color for being a "low input" stand of grass. https://s4.postimg.cc/dffsxepm1/image.jpg [ Post...

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
Ripped up and rolled back about 200 sq ft of Brown dead grass in back yard that had just a few remaining roots attached. Found big and small white, edible, c-shaped larvae. Applied 2 lbs of Bayer Advanced Grub Killer to the 1000 sq ft around the damage. Watered. :| [ Post made via iPhone ] http://ar...

Yesterday - applied Urea at 0.5 lb N per k with 1/2 bag rate Encap lawn compost to the front shaded 5k lawn only. Open sun areas of lawn are still growing quickly 2-3 weeks post Milorganite apps.

Re: 2016: What did you do to or on your lawn today?
My brother-in-law made a last minute decision this week in Wisconsin to overseed his lawn following grub damage this Summer. So, He and I: Scalped at 1", raked and cleaned lawn (5,000 sq ft) Verticut x3 with overseeder Overseeded 'Right' Kentucky Bluegrass into his existing 80% KBG/ 20% TTTF mix. Ap...

Cleaned out garage and put the last 8 bags of Milo down on the front 10k. Switching to low amounts of synthetic from here on out. 3 weeks from today marks my first expected frost date!

Re: Problem or "Just Summer Stress"?
Has the border near the driveway looked that way (brown) all year since green-up or only recently? When I used salt in the Winter for ice melt I had damaged spots along the edge that lasted a long time, just like your pic. It didn't happen the next year after I switched to a Calcium Magnesium acetat...
