Re: JG LI's new house seeding...
jg, looking good overall. That browning looks very familiar. I get hit with the same crap every year in random spots. Have you figured out what it is causing it?

Re: Greenrebellion's Fall 2017 Renovation
I tried to offer advice in the other thread but you never responded. Why are you dead set on KBG in the first place is what I'm curious about? It definitely has the advantage of spreading but PRG is a MILLION times easier to grow and manage (particularly if you're dealing with a poa infestation).. t...

Re: Honda HRX 217 Suction issue
A big part of the problem is in bagging mode the weight gets "rear-heavy". Add a striper and it compounds the problem. Because the composite deck is so light compared to other mowers, it repeatedly bobs up on the front end on any little bump or irregular terrain without you really noticing it (The l...

Re: I messed up
That grass is toast but your KBG will fill in (spread) to the dead areas. It looks to me like the liquid got between the rocks (possible overspray), never dried off and ran off into the lawn on the next rainfall or irrigation.

The 3rd pic and possibly the 2nd look like it to me but no one will be able to 100% identify it for you from pics alone. That being said, do you really want to be married to a bottle of Certainty for possibly the next 5 years or more, and stress your lawn to the point of near death (or death) for mo...

Re: Greenrebellion's Fall 2017 Renovation
Back for round two. Tried to hydroseed last year and it was a spectacular failure. Gory details here - https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=20878 What am I doing differently this year? 1. No compost 2. No hydroseed - will spread seed and lay peat moss on top 3. Fallow period - whi...

Re: Greener lawn
3.3x bag rate milo seems excessive..I'd say you're pretty much maxed out color-wise. Anything you add now will likely add incremental gains.may 14th I did 2 whole bag of milorganite on my 1500 sq lawn

one week is way too long to wait to scalp after RU. Do it 2-4 days after the first spray.

Re: KBG cultivar(s) for showcase lawn?
Despite the name, Blueberry doesn't have much blue in it. A lot of it depends how you feed though (more iron brings out the blue in any KBG). If blue/green is what you're looking for, PRG might be a better bet. I'm wondering if seiyafan has considered PRG? Thanks ligrass but with our -30 to -40 win...

Re: KBG cultivar(s) for showcase lawn?
Bewitched is definitely blue green. My blueberry is too. But it's no where near as dark as the bewitched. I think the blueberry grows too fast. If using a growth regulator on blueberry, the color is pretty close to bewitched though. Bewitched is definitely the better looking grass today. I thing JG...

Re: KBG cultivar(s) for showcase lawn?
TT, can you tell us about the blue green tones of Blueberry vs Bewitched just being dark green? How noticeable are the blue highlights? Does it look nicer than just dark green if the Bewitched was at the same level of dark green as Blueberry, ie when it was younger and hadn't surpassed Blueberry ye...

Re: Honda HRX 217 Suction issue
If you want to use this mower in a "Suction mode" and use the bag instead of mulching you need to get a high lift blade and not use the twin mulching blades. This will greatly increase how much stuff gets sucked into the bag. This mower is designed to mulch, and in my opinion does an excellent job....

Re: Honda HRX 217 Suction issue
So, is there a better self propelled mower that works better for mulching and bagging with good suction? I have read the Honda is the best overall especially for wet grass. The LCN likes the Toro Recycler... Yeah, get a used commercial unit. :rotfl: I have a 48" walkbehind and it eats up anything I...

Re: Honda HRX 217 Suction issue
I am definitely considering getting another mower but it's tough to find reviews that mention vacuum as a feature. I've only seen Snapper HiVacs mention it. My previous mower was a craftsman hi vac and the suction was awesome (under $300 too). The only thing is the Honda blows it away in every othe...

Re: Fusebox 2017 Front/Side Reno
Congrats on seed-down! Curious to hear how this goes for you. I'm now considering a Mazama monostand for some areas to be renovated this fall... I'll get some small individual cultivar pots going as to compare Award vs. Bewitched vs. Mazama. Mazama is supposedly one of the more wider-bladed varieti...

Honda HRX 217 Suction issue
I know there are a couple threads on HRX issues but I just want to see who else is having this specific issue. I know Mr. Met and a couple other people confirmed some suction issues as well with their HRX. I'm very happy with this mower except for this one problem which seems to happen at higher HOC...

Re: Why isn't my pre-M working?
My thought is the PRG wake ups earlier so it would get thicker/taller earlier and crowd out the weeds before they get established. Right now my lawn is slow to wake-up (spotty growth on Memorial Day weekend; last year I had spotty growth until late July) and it appears to me the weeds get establish...

Re: Greenrebellions Grass Grow - Poa Annua Monostand
I was walking through my lawn today and that fertilizer did something. The good grass that is interspersed throughout is super dark blue/green in color. Might be starting to show some signs of growing (in some areas) but if it is, it is still SLOW. Problem is, even if the good grass takes off at so...

Re: Milorganite sale
i just tried to purchase some and the True Value website isn't giving me the option to buy it. Very weird! What you need to do is to call your local store and have it shipped to the store, then you can pick it up. I did it this way last year. i did too but the difference this year is the True Value...
