This variety originated in Australia and is used on bowling greens. I think you will be fine even down to as low as the mower will go!

Re: 2016 Southern Lawn Pics
Simon any updates? My grass has pretty much stopped growing, went from mowing every 3-4 days to 14 days. I drained all the gas out of the greensmower after last cut but after looking around today I'll need to make at least one more cut. I got a little lazy and let the acre get up to 4"+ and instead...

Re: Grass looking funky....
Considering the areas of concern are all along the high side of the lawn I would say the water is running down the hill before it can penetrate to the root zone.

Re: Side cut picture of Patriot Bermuda at 2
It is all about what you want from your lawn. There is nothing wrong with keeping it higher if you want as there will be less overall maintenance and inputs. I think we can all agree on that. That being said I find it much harder to keep a nice after cut appearance when the lawn is taller as it is m...

It looks like there is no grass at all. What height did u scalp at? Finished scalp height was 0.15" Probably start at 0.200" and work down as the grass come through the sand. Sanding like this can be murder on your reel and bedknife so I will make sure that the sand is gone before I cut hyper low.

Scalped, deep verticut, aerated, sanded, brushed & smoothed off the back. Absolute mountain of a job with the prep work taking a full 8 hours for my 1k sf plus another 2-3 hrs to sand, brush and smooth off. http://s14.postimg.cc/6fgdwf6r1/2016_09_15_12_24_39.jpg http://s9.postimg.cc/fspxoql8b/2016_0...

Re: Time to throw in the towel?
The slope will be a challenge to level out, but with small amounts of sand over a couple of apps it should be doable. I would be starting next spring with a really hard scalp (like to dirt) leveling out with some sand and keeping it as low as you can. You need to remember that most lawns are going t...

Re: end of summer bermuda update (socal)
I had to Google San Diego climate, but I wouldn't not have thought that the max average temp in summer of 76F would be enough to make bermuda really grow to its full potential. Couple that with a shade issue and you're chasing your tail.

Re: 2016 Southern Lawn Pics
I am excited to see what you do this year Simon! No need for a Spring scalp I assume? I will smack it down in a few weeks and get some more sand down, particularly on the front. I would like to maintain at 0.125" again but we will see. A couple of things to fine tune to keep it at for that height t...

Re: There's no school like the old school
Thanks everyone for the kind words! :clapping: I took it out for a quick run today and cut my grass for the first time since April. I was definitely wary of scratching it! I didn't check the HOC but it is probably in the 1/2" range. I will check all the chain tensions and re-adjust the reel to bedkn...

There's no school like the old school
So, winter sucks. I leave for work in the morning and it is dark. I get home and it is dark. It rains on the weekends. It is cold. I need something to keep my lawn fetish going and my mind occupied. This year I thought I would restore an old school mower, and give it some new school technology. I ha...

Looks good Red. I am about 3 weeks away from getting stuck in so this is good 'inspiration' I think something got lost in translation. Re: Fraze Mowing
Lately, graze mowing has gained popularity as a light renovation method, where a layer of soil, thatch, and biomass are removed. Probably a spell check issue, but it's Fraze mowing, for those of you following along at home. Graze mowing. Quite popular in New Zealand I hear.. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:...
