REPPEND's 2024 Soil Test

Howdy folks! It's about that time again! Soil-test-O'Clock, and here we goooo. This is the second year at the new lawn, and after a ton of work last year, the soil actually isn't in the dumpster anymore. Although, the low-ish calcium and pH numbers aren't the best. I'm always so antsy to see what yo...

Re: REPPEND's 2023 Soil Test

The people that owned the lawn-with-a-house before you weren't lawnatics, were they? Don't get me started. :o :x I know you take this stuff seriously. Therefore, I'd like to ask you whether to go with balanced fertilizer or go with a SOP, MAP and Urea solution. I'm all in. Let's do this the...

REPPEND's 2023 Soil Test

The lowdown: I've recently moved to a new lawn (with a house on it). This will be my first soil test at the new digs. There will be a complete renovation in the next year or so, probably to a Blueberry monostand, as I had at the last lawn. On what I consider a high maintenance level Irrigation via ...

Re: REPPEND's - 2021 Soil Test

ZZZZZZzzz.. Huh, wha? Ah yes, the hibernation season is almost over. I'll do this soil test then hit the proverbial snooze button for a week or so. I believe your Spidey-senses, or the force, or whatever supernatural-soil-power it is that you possess, is spot-on when you mention a soil horizon. I've...

REPPEND's - 2021 Soil Test

The lowdown: Lawn is 9100 sq ft Blueberry KBG monostand On what I consider a high maintenance level Irrigation via inground system, deep and infrequent roughly 1" per week +/- 10% - 15% depending on conditions Soil has shown tendencies to exhibit low calcium and phosphorus historically Last interpr...

Re: REPPEND's 2020 Soil Test

Doug: ... That's it!! You've done it, and are in maintenance/tweaking mode -- and you did it in a measured, responsible way that doesn't pollute or run off. Congratulations!! So, you’re saying I can finally crack open the special bottle of JW Blue that I’ve been keeping locked away, in anticipation...

Re: REPPEND's 2020 Soil Test

To answer how the lawn has reacted to the soil changes, I’ll just say that this test proves my anecdotal evidence from last season. The reno was in its fourth full growing season last year, so some of the improvements are also attributed to the maturity of the grass. However, I’m absolutely convince...

Re: REPPEND's 2018 Soil Test

Ok, sounds good. Time to tap into the local supply of the ‘good lime’ and SOP again. I’ve got a guy for that, and I think I’m putting all his kids through college! An annoying question just came up because I’m noticing an inconsistency between particle and soil tests: TEC - (Here’s where I really sh...

Waterfall

Besides the usual stuff I do every year in the lawn and garden, I always take on something new and make a project out of it. This year is operation “Waterfall”. Pretty much just like it sounds. A mound of dirt and rocks, some other various liners, plumbing, a pump, a few lights, and Voila! A pondles...

REPPEND's 2018 Soil Test

Wait! It's spring?!?!? Good thing for calendars because by the 3" of snow we got last night, my 'eye test' tells me its January!!! :blackeye: :sorry: Anywho, it's become quite the tradition here in my household. Late winter and early spring -- to me -- means I have a new list of things to do. First ...

Re: REPPEND's Soil Test Results - 2017

Thanks, Andy! It's been quite the adventure the past 7 years, or so. Lime, SOP, and rotting stuff, oh my! Check, check, & check. I use the Lesco starter - 18-24-12. I do plan on addressing the micro nutrients as well. Please fire away with your recommendations! Lawn is great! It's still acting like ...
