Re: Can anyone ID this grass for me?

[quote=Melissajo67 post_id=334432 time=1560476141 user_id=9493] Hi, I have this grass growing in my yard and I am not sure what kind of grass it is. It is spreading more and more every year. It seems to be good grass and so easy to mow. I planted some Bermuda so it is growing it with it. Hoping some...

Re: New to mowing warm season grasses

I don't see anything there that looks like bermuda. I would guess that is a zoysia matrella like zeon or zorro.

Re: Sedge Ender Application in Texas Heat

I don't have any experience with it but I have had great luck with certainty. I apply at full rate once the sun goes down. Then water it in the morning. Don't mow for 2 days. Takes 2 application 6-8 weeks apart. After the first application, the sedge completely stops growing tho. Whatever reappears...

Re: Ants

Fipronil is what finally worked for my ant problem. Same as you describe and it was a constant problem. I tried bifenthrin, imidacloprid and some others which would kill the ants it contacted, but they would be back in 3-4 days. The first app of fipronil kept them away for several months. I also bou...

Re: celcius vs msma

Pretty much all situations unless you have dallisgrass to deal with. Celsius can be applied at high temps unlike MSMA and controls a much larger number of weeds as well. It also isn't illegal to use on residential property.

Actually, after looking at the pics a little closer, it appears to be green kyllinga. Everything else in my prior post holds true.

Re: FL Weed ID

That would be nutsedge which isn't controlled by Celsius. There are several herbicides that will work to varying degrees. Certainty works very well, but like Celsius, it has a high initial price point. Some others like Sedgehammer can be bought in small packets for one time use.

I'm thinking the same thing Begotten. It certainly isn't bermuda.

Re: I have drank the coolaid

Keep in mind that the Green Light product does include quinclorac, but also includes 2,4-D. That product should not be applied when temps are 85+ (or expected to be 85+ for several days). It should be applied in a spray that allows the poison to stick to the leaves since it is foliarly absorbed. In ...

With the bright color around the edge of the area, it appears to be brown patch/large patch.

Re: Problems with St. Augustine Grass - Brown spot/Large patch?

It could be KBG Green, I was just guessing that fescue would be more likely in Southern California. I would bet a LOT of dough that it isn't a warm-season grass.

Re: 2017 Southern Lawn Pics

Not sure if I'm being moderated for some reason or what, but I will try again to post a pic of my Zoysia at .5". https://s1.postimg.cc/ihkpesauj/IMG_20170420_133228.jpg Hello, just want to get a really close up picture of your zoysia grass. Would you mind posting a close-up pic. And it looks great....

Re: Problems with St. Augustine Grass - Brown spot/Large patch?

Agree with the above, looks like fescue to me. I've seen a lot of St Augustine and it's never been close to that fine bladed. St Augustine grows via stolons which are also notably absent in your pics.

Re: Orbit B-hyve WiFi Timer Controler

My father just purchased the 12 zone version and has also been pleased with it. I think most of the more expensive purchases were made prior to the availability of the Orbit. I do think my Rainmachine is a little more versatile, but if I were buying today I would seriously consider the Orbit because...

Re: Uggggg - Weeds!

I would be looking into another herbicide if those are in your lawn. Triclopyr isn't labeled for use on bermuda unless you are trying to suppress it. Crap. Good point. I should bud out on grasses that I don't have in my area. Sorry OP. Actually no, it was my bad. When on my phone I can't see what g...

Re: GardenPants TX Backyard Reno Winter 2016

Just a thought, but buffalo grass seed is pricey and difficult to use with success by many accounts. Your lawn doesn't look that large, so why not use sod?
