Re: Fall Over seeding Help
Yeah that looks more like it could be kbg. Look for their mid vein and boat tip. The blade in the upper left looks like its browning from the tip, which could be a sign of disease. Okay well I think I'm going to see how these "dead spots" come out over the next month or so and see if there is any r...

Re: The triv is tempting me...
Hard not to act when the triv looks like this. It literally peels off the surface when the spots get like this. About half the patches have gotten like this by now. The remainder are still lime green with some brown and falling over forming an ugly mat. I know I should resist, as any attempts at sc...

Re: Fall Over seeding Help
Here's a pic of a kbg rhizome. Note how you can kinda see the mid vein and boat shaped tip on the smaller blade, and especially on the mature blade in the upper right corner. https://s8.postimg.cc/74tdvfjpd/IMG_20180720_111745.jpg https://s8.postimg.cc/zcpppzq35/close_up.jpg I think this photo is m...

Re: Fall Over seeding Help
I had put down scotts green max and pre emergent in mid February, more scotts green max mid April, and we got a ton of rain end of May so I took advantage and put down some 10-10-10 fertilizer --- the yard looked amazing at that point. I had been doing 10-15 minutes per sprinkler ( I have hoses set...

Re: Fall Over seeding Help
Alright so I took so photos last night. One shows when things were going well and current condition Another shows the areas that look dead and a close up of the dead grass The last few show what seems to be sprouting up from the dead areas Hopefully that can help determine if the KBG is starting to ...

Re: Fall Over seeding Help
Thanks for sharing. Hmmm, so scratch the idea of K-31 then. This makes me wonder do I need to try my Scotts Heat Tolerant Blue mix -- Tall Rescue and Kentucky Bluegrass. There was a point in the Spring that it looked absolutely amazing, but anytime the heat started to pick up in June it has turned b...

Re: Fall Over seeding Help
Okay good stuff. Yea I think I misunderstood what the builder said and was able to later clarify it was Tall Fescue/Kentucky-31 not the KBG. How is the green color of it? Ideally, I want a nice and thick lawn that doesn't die off at the first sight of stress from the heat/lack of water, doesn't requ...

Fall Over seeding Help
I'm come to you guys bruised and battered by my first full season of cool season grass -- Tall Fescue. I had bermuda previously and had things down with that and usually rocking this time of year. The same cannot be said for my 1/4 acre yard. Well, the heat in Charlotte has kicked my Tall Fescues bu...

Re: New to fescue
I've found a fix seed mixes that have tall fescue and KBG as well. Would that be a good idea to over seed with?

Re: New to fescue
Okay great to know, probasesteal! I always got everything from Lowes in the past haha... does their stuff usually have lots of weed seeds? I've never over seeded before so good to know to get weed free! Dan that makes sense for the KBG! I saw a few vein/stolons on the sidewalk that reminded me of my...

Re: New to fescue
I called the sod farm -- buy sod -- and that was not much help either as the person did not care to dig into where I lived, the builder, etc. haha

New to fescue
Good Morning Everyone! I just moved into a new home and am learning the ropes with cool season grass. My last home had bermuda so I feel I have a lot to learn for my new fescue lawn. I'm in Charlotte, NC and the entire yard was sodded about 3 weeks ago. To start, I have not really been able to get a...

Re: Finally getting hydrangea blooms?
It is planted in the ground next to my patio. I have never pruned it. Good to know it can sometimes take a few years to get blooms. Would it hurt the blooms any this year moving it? I'm pretty decided on moving it as it is getting quite large and creeping towards/on to the patio. Thanks for the input!

Finally getting hydrangea blooms?
I believe my hydrangea is finally getting blooms. This is my third year with my hydrangea and it never bloomed any flowers the first two years. I was about ready to chalk it up as a loss this year. I got it for $5 at walmart so honestly I wasn't expecting much, but wanted to give it a shot. I had be...

Sounds good I will feed it!
Interesting on the granular. Did you have any specific example? I usually just stick to name brand stuff at Lowes as it is so close to my house.

New Dura Heat River Birch
I will be planting a 5.5 gallon (about 7 ft) Dura Heat River Birch today. In plastic container and got it at Lowes last night. It it starting to bud out new leaves. Is it safe to fertilize it now or would that be harmful? Let it get settled in first? I usually do the Miracle-Gro Tree Spikes for my t...
