Blocked
Ware's access to the forum was blocked, and further posts asking to reinstate him were deleted (even though he broke no terms of the site and I think it was just a screwup). He won't be able to answer, but yes, he has the new blades.

Rain
One way to get it to rain in North Texas in August is to spray PGR and then spot spray with my Celsius/Certainty combo. You're welcome, Dallas!

Filling in
Right, I wouldn't bother with compost, soil, or overseeding. A healthy Bermuda will fill in on its own. Once your cultural practices are right, the grass with thrive. The thick grass hugging the ground is probably due to it being so tall. When it gave up or got too stressed, the top of the plant die...

Cutting Height
Skip the Bermuda seed. You won't want to overseed Bermuda into a sodded lawn, even if you have common variety sod. Look for a high nitrogen, slow(er) release fertilizer, like a Lesco 24-0-11, or even 15-5-10. You can use a cheaper, fast release fertilizer if you are careful to water it in. For bette...

One Chick
I only have one chick, boss! For a hill like that, I'd go with a simple rotary or a manual push reel as sometimes the simplest answer/fix is best. For the rest of the yard, I'd stick with the JD or Toro you looked at earlier. I'm not convinced a greens mower couldn't do that hill side to side, depen...

HOC and FOC
Ajmikola, Have a read over the documents in this BL/ATY post . In this article specifically , it describes the fundamentals on Frequency of Clip (FOC, or clip rate). The number of blades a reel has is related to Height of Cut (HOC). As the HOC increases, the number of blades should decrease to keep ...

Crabgrass
Walking the dog through the neighborhood yesterday, I noticed a lot of crabgrass in people's yards. It got me to realize that this is the first year I haven't had so much as a single blade of crabgrass this year. Now, maybe my HOC between .5 and .75 has something to do with it, but I want to think t...

Wheel to Swath?
I was only half joking about WTS, but like Spammage said: I set the wheel at the edge of the last swath, so effectively then I'm spreading back to the edge of the last path as well. This is exactly what I do; seems to work great. Since the acronyms are flying in this thread, I'll call it the DFW/S-W...

Thank you
Thank you, gents. The tree farm we bought them from doesn't say what scientific name of live oak they are selling, but I'm sure a call to them would let me know. I just found out that the tree farm has recently added an arborist to its staff . Depending on pricing, I may go with him or call around. ...
