Re: How Many Times Did You Mow?
Thanks, Ed and Green. TT, I don't now and never did look at a calendar to tell me when it's time to mow; the lawn tells me. Sometimes it's 3x a week, sometimes it's once every 10 days. I made calendar entries *after* mowing, just to satisfy my curiosity as to how many times I mowed. And then to conv...

How Many Times Did You Mow?
I'm just curious to see how many total times folks around here mow in a year, not counting just leaf mulching. Not a contest or anything like that, just interested. My lawn is mostly PRG, and I have an irrigation system, so I don't let it go dormant in the Summer. Last soil test indicated that mine ...

Summer. I sent a sample to Purdue who confirmed leaf spot melting out.

Re: Northern GA K31 Summer Mow Height?
Got any pictures of your lawn? I've fought K31 patches on and off my whole life, and am curious as to what a uniform turf stand of it would look like.

Re: Help with Grass Around Maples
Besides the shade and competition for water, the maples with which I've had experience have some very shallow roots, to the point of encroaching the surface. Not a very inviting environment for your lawn. I agree with TT that, if possible, find an alternative to turfgrass around the maples.

Re: Fungicide PGR Effect
Oh yes, Velocity! My poa battle got sidetracked this year. I should've taken pictures before the fungus, but I am (was?) definitely winning that battle.

Performing NTEP Research
I want to find a turf species/cultivar that is resistant to a recurring issue that I have with diagnosed leaf spot/melting out. It seems that it will have to be a cultivar of KGB; I am mostly satisfied with my mostly Barenbrug Turf Star RPR lawn, so I would like to just overseed, rather than do any ...

Re: Fungicide PGR Effect
Thanks for the information, Green! Next year when, not if, unfortunately, I apply the first of the Headway apps, I'll know what to expect! Forgot to add that my cutting height was 3 1/2" when I first noticed some brown areas in early June, and increased to 4" in early July. When healthy, my lawn is...

Fungicide PGR Effect
Hey all! Earlier this summer, I saw what appeared to be some small areas of as of then unidentified fungal infection in my lawn. Like the genius that I am, I ignored it, feeling that my healthy, vigorous lawn would fight off whatever it was. :banghead: Nope. By the time I took samples and sent them ...

Re: Leaves dropping extremely fast this year
Not exactly your neighbor, but leaves dropped quickly here in NE Indiana this year as well, especially compared to last year. I have a seasonal job at a golf course, and we usually wrap up for the year on or before Veteran's Day. That was the case this year, but also, the colors were spectacular, th...

Re: Poa Triv Invasion Counter-offensive
A week in, and I'm seeing good germination with the PRG. The only bad thing is that the existing, mature grass, especially in front, is really digging that application of starter fertilizer and 4x daily waterings, and is now over 5" tall. The baby grass is not quite an inch tall, but I am going to h...

Re: Poa Triv Invasion Counter-offensive
Overseeded yesterday. The lawn has responded to the Eagle and starter fertilizer. Here is the picture after the last Velocity app. I would say that most of the killing was complete before the 3rd app. But, pending on how things look next year, I will probably repeat the process. https://i.postimg.cc...

After hours of research, I went completely overboard and ordered this from Amazon: McLane 101-5.5GT-7 https://www.amazon.com/McLane-101-4-75GT-7-9-Inch-Powered-Torque/dp/B001SARMP2/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=mclane%2Bedger&qid=1660166606&sr=8-1-spons&smid=A2ZANZX0RHL3OT&th=1 According to their web sit...

Re: Bradley E-40-3 Edger
Thanks, TT. You are correct that it is next to impossible to completely eliminate parts sourced from China in almost anything you buy these days. In separate projects, I spent hours researching toasters, irons and lawn mowers. All I can hope to do is to minimize the damage.

Bradley E-40-3 Edger
Anyone have any experience or knowledge wrt the Bradley E-40-3 Edger? https://www.bradleymowers.com/products/bradley-even-cut-commercial-walk-behind-edger A local dealer that I've worked with in the past has a used one for $349, and I'm strongly considering going for it. Re: Poa Triv Invasion Counter-offensive
Oze, in case your curious: There is an herbicide version with the same active ingredient apparently still made (by the same company that made Velocity). It's an 80% formulation, and intended (labeled) for a different use (not turf). It comes in 2 lb bags and is insanely expensive ($1,000). So, the ...
