Do you have an update?
What are the soil ratios that you refer to (i.e. 30/70)? I have a forced leveling coming up within the next week (feral hog damage).

I also use it in my compost, though limit it to less than 10% of volume. How would you spread shredded paper on the lawn?

Re: Please help. Bermuda dying
I had a similar problem this summer. I also had same spotty die off last summer: https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=20445&p=280724#p280724 I was never able to diagnose but suspect it was bug related. I have not treated for bugs this year, but guess I'll check for beetles next week...

Re: 2017 Southern Lawn Pics
Well I got in a pretty bad accident and have been out for about 2 1/2 months my neighbors have been cutting my grass but went from a 1 to a 4 setting. Now that i am back to good health i spent about 6 hours going from the 4 back down to the 1. I need to go get some fertilizer and will be watering i...

Re: Timeline Needed
Welcome to ATY - there are a couple Leanderthals here. Nice mower! I scalped from 3"+ to 3/4" during the last week of August and nearly all of my lawn greened up within 2 weeks. Sunday's rain will help a lot but the lower temps (for the moment) may slow recovery. If it were me, I'd hold out until ne...

Re: 1st house, 6" Bermuda on lawn. Advice?
Congratulations on your new home. Depending on how many more weeks of growth you anticipate, I'd cut (and bag it) at your lowest or next to lowest setting, and use a fast release fertilizer. It'll likely take several cuts with you gradually lowering the mower deck... but I would do it all in one day...

Milo sale at walmart!
Thank you!!
I picked up 18 at $5. The Texas heat is baking it in my car while I grocery shop.

Re: Brown patch or drought stress?
Great - pretty sure I've seen that at the big box home improvement store. Thanks for the help!! Hope your yard recovers rapidly from your infestation. My damaged areas already have some new growth, but there's more spots that are showing the same decline. I may push up my watering day so that I can ...

Re: Brown patch or drought stress?
Active ingredient is Imidacloprid, and it may help control the adult beetles. I don't know either if they are feeding on the grass, or if it's the grubs, but I'll apply it before my watering day and keep my fingers crossed that it works!

Brown patch or drought stress?
TSGarp, I've not seen that thread. Does it contain recommendations on treatment for beetles? I'd hoped to use granular treatment but my nearly full bag of Bayer grub control doesn't mention beetles.
Edit - I found your thread. Did you have to order arena online?

Re: Brown patch or drought stress?
SimonR, less than half of the stems pull right out. I'm not pulling large clumps out overall. Root system seems to be in good shape, and I have new growth in affected spots (it is bermuda after all). I found an old post by Tony alony mentioning scarab beetles in Texas - they look similar to what I f...

Re: Brown patch or drought stress?
I did not find any grubs in a one square foot area, but could check more areas. The soap drench test very quickly flushed at least 10 bugs in a 3 SF area with both brown and green grass. See images below. I haven't been able to identify them, but don't think they are mole crickets or chinch bugs. Ar...

Brown patch or drought stress?
I have multiple areas of my celebration that have died pretty quickly (over the course of a couple weeks). We had a very wet spring, but the heat and dry air arrived about a month ago. I'm not watering 1" weekly, but rather watching for indicator areas to tell when the lawn needs watering (at which ...

Re: Manual reel that cuts lower than 1/2
I have a McLane 17" hand push greens mower (17-PH-7) that claims to cut between 3/16" and 1". They seem to run less than $300. It's heavy and a beast to use, but I think in my case it's due to a damaged bed knife (and irregular mowing and slope of the small area for which I use it).

Re: 2016: What did you do on your lawn today?
On 7k SF, I put down 2 bags of Milo in the morning and 150 lbs of cracked corn in the evening. Mowed with my rotary to break up some of the corn. A deer family has been grazing the corn since before I finished mowing, so I guess the 8 hour interval of Milo in the sun wasn't enough to "ripen" the air...

Looks like you won't get another chance until late next weekend if the forecast holds! The grass looks great!goku025 wrote:Cut the grass saturday before the rain storms came in.

Re: 2016: What did you do on your lawn today?
First, I washed my broken septic aerator on the lawn, in hopes that all the microbes I've been encouraging will find something interesting. Fun. Then, I ran my new California Trimmer for the 2nd time and finished just as the rain started. Rain is forecasted through the end of the week. I mowed at 1-...

Perfect - that's what I was looking for. Guess its advantageous to review (or at least have in hand) the owners manual when inspecting. Thank you!
