North Texas. Time for PreM?
I thought last year was weird. My soil temps are hovering around 50 but with a warm week, I'm thinking we might hit 55 this week. Weather was extremely odd\mild this year. Is it seriously already time to lay down some PreM, consider scalping, and start guessing when we are outside of freezing temps ...

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
http://i1127.photobucket.com/albums/l631/andrewfriberg/20160601_131310.jpg [/url] Personally, that looks like deluxe straps to me. My original chapin 20V came with straps much thinner (almost laughable). Those look much better. In any event, I did end up ordering these and they do fit. I'd say for ...

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
...Ware, could you link the replacement deluxe straps? I searched all over chapins site and could not locate them. The standard straps have been fine....totally manageable, but for $30 or so, the improved straps would be a nice upgrade for me. I think it is probably these , but it may be worth a ca...

Re: Temporary irrigation for small lawn?
I have this same issue except only on one zone. Seems to be the new norm for water restricted areas. My hell strips are subsurface drips. Watering in is a problem but the drips are nice to have under water restrictions. I'm planning to add an MP rotator zone to deal with it next season or if that's ...

Re: Sprayer Wand
I do not recommend a CF valve for the Chapin battery sprayers. They regulate nicely at 35psi with predictable coverage. I primarily use the brown AIC tips for preM and XRC for systemic apps. I thought I read about one person on this site damaging their pump through CF valve use (last year). Sent fro...

Small quantity mason sand
I'm looking for just a couple bags of sand to level around some irrigation boxes I added. Specifically on a slope so sharp sand would be better than the larger variety. The local HD offers a leveling sand and some quickrete sand but they don't look that great. I'm half tempted to try to buy some fro...

Re: Chapin's new 20V Backpack Sprayer
Just got the sprayer, and unpacked it... I unpacked my (4) pencils today... no sprayer until tomorrow. :( Nice, I had my 4 pencils held for pickup. The guy that called me to let me know my pencils were ready for pickup was trying not to laugh. Sent from my iOS device using the Yard Help App

I've had mine for about a year and saved me more time than anything (have had lots of fungicide fun last year). It's awesome. Add a teejet wand for sure.

Re: 4" rotors and tall fescue?
I switched all my 4" heads out for 6" regulated with mp rotators last year. I've got some drainage swales and a hill to deal with. Normally not a problem but if I miss a mow, it is. As mentioned, you would dig a couple inches deeper and sometimes the swingpipe needed extended in my case due to the d...

Re: Spreader recommendation
I didn't like the earthway 2150 as much as I liked the spyker p20-5010 with a side deflector. Just seemed like I had better rate control in a small yard. The assembly on the spyker sucked, however.

Re: FAS - How Often?
Excellent.
In my case, I applied at the 4oz rate and irrigated about 6 hours later. Temperatures were under the 80F if I recall. Still gave that dirty appearance.
Would you recommend a lower rate for my next attempt? Or washing it off sooner?

Re: How much do you actually water your bermuda?
Totally depends on soil type, slope, spray nozzles, shade, etc. There is no universal runtime answer.

FAS - How Often?
This is the first season I've been planning to FAS all season. Last time, I applied FAS at the 4oz ferrous sulfate rate alongside BLSC. First week of color on the Bermuda was kinda evergreen/gray/dirty. After that, it looked really good. Was planning to reduce to 3oz of ferrous sulfate without BLSC....

Re: Power Washers! What Do Owners Think?
I have a similar style aggregate driveway with stone. At 3100PSI with a turbo or more directional tip, it will pop a stone out here or there. However, at a lower setting it looks like it would do just fine. I've really liked my Generac Onewash 3100. Relatively low cost and has the pressure to do any...

Re: 2016: What did you do on your lawn today?
DFW, I'll be curious how that hose holds up under a few Texas summers. Looks high quality! On the lawn today...mowed before the next round of free water rolls through and staring at a weed trying to identify. So far this has been a really good free water (without so much causing problems) season her...
