Re: gastone - starting over in Virginia with zoysia

My Zoysia seems to really like the Milo, SOP, and Alfalfa that I've given it. Slow release organic makes it happy. Given enough sun and properly fed pretty much nothing is going to grow in it weed wise. My only question would be how much shade to do you have? City lot sounds like you might be dealin...

Re: Uggggg - Weeds!

Zoysia is not as sensitive to Triclopyr as Bermuda is. In fact Triclopyr and Fusilade are recommended for removing Bermuda from Zoysia. I spray my Zoysia with Speedzone Southern. It has less 2-4D than regular Speedzone Red. I have sprayed wild violets in my Zoysia with CCO and it worked just fine at...

Re: Starter Fertilizer

Your soil test thread said you lawn is 2,200 sq/ft? Even at 22,000 sq/ft you need to check the math on that SOP. I haven't fed my Zoysia anything yet this year. It still hasn't fully greened up yet.

Re: What Post-Emergent to Use?

I have a gallon of Speedzone that I bought. I've used it with surfactant as a blanket app and it's lights out for a majority of weeds. The areas with wild violets get triclopyr/CCO. A follow up spot spray 14 days later on the stragglers gets the lawn to neighbor envy stage. I'm happy with it at that...

Got it. Nitrogen is easy. Zoysia seems to really take well to vitamin M so I'll continue with that.

Last gypsum application was 11/27/16. There were three apps in total in 2016. March, June, and November. One application in November of 2015.

Re: Weird Weather, What to do about weed treatment?

You'll learn that what most universities preach to homeowners is very different than what goes on here. It's like comparing the farm league to the pro's. It's two different levels. As Andy says take your calendar and throw it in the trash compost. You can't pin things down to dates every year.

Re: Weird Weather, What to do about weed treatment?

http://www.gddtracker.net/ Enter your zip and go to the Crabgrass PRE tab. You're already in the window. There's also a tab for Spring Broadleaf. You can use that to help with post emergent timing. If it was me I'd do a Pre-M now, blanket spray post-m in May-ish before it gets too warm, and plan to ...

Mtlcafan79's 2017 Soil Test Results

I didn't think my yard looked as good as I wanted last year, but looking back at pictures throughout the year it's obvious that it is making progress. The Zoysia is spreading to fill in places of damage. Google recently updated their satellite image of my neighborhood and my lawn looks noticeably da...

Re: Weird Weather, What to do about weed treatment?

Are you sure it's crabgrass? Last year's crop should have been toast once you got frost. It's been warm, but I don't think soil temps are there just yet.Takes a while to catch up.

Re: Ryan Ren-O-Thin Power Rake / De-Thatcher

The Zoysia parts of my yard have just about turned it in for the year. From everything I've read you shouldn't be feeding Nitrogen to Zoysia much later than one month before first frost. I'm done for the year applying anything other than gypsum.

PRG reno pics for some food for thought: http://aroundtheyard.com/renovations/pj ... t3011.html

Someone else had some decent Double Eagle PRG pictures, but I can't find them. Either way, looks better than a mud pit to me.
