Re: Great Price: Ego Power Head + Edger
Well, the edger is great. So powerful it will pull you down street. What I have learned is that my current situation is better suited to the string trimmer. We don't have sidewalks in my hood and I have an older asphalt driveway so putting an edge on it isn't the best look (crooked). I'm going to ha...

Re: Where Is The Forsythia Line?
Has the Forsythia method ever failed us (this is my first year using it)? I got my Proadiamine down a week ago (about a week after they had fully bloomed) and I was already seeing dandelions and a few other unidentified weeds in the lawn - of course I don't remember seeing dandelions on the list of ...

Re: Timemaster grass 'paste'
I get the green goo too when I mow grass that is too tall. Consider raising the cut height instead of breaking the 1/3 rule. You might get away with 1/2, but we've all been there in the Spring when we've had to wait a full week to mow again and our healthy yards have shot up into 3/4 territory. Don'...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
We got about 4 inches at our house, but locally as much as 8" yesterday. Very heavy, wet snow. I lost several branches as well as a significant part of my beautiful dogwood.

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?
I got my first mow in on Saturday and dropped the Prodamine. Snow tonight. I noticed mowing I already had a few dandelions popping up. The creeping charlie is also starting to bloom. (I've really knocked that back there isn't much of it - some spot spraying may finish it off) Other parts of the yard...

Bizarre forecasting for here: on Weather.com, the local forecast is 1"-3" tomorrow and 1"-3" tomorrow night. ON THE SAME PAGE is the NWS Winter Storm Warning which says 10"-14" with spots of 16"+. Just another day... Those storms usually pass through KY on their way up to you all, Of course, we usu...

Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
I got the blades and mower tuned up and the first mow is complete. The grass is always a little taller than I think it will be on the first mow of the year. Some areas of the yard (shade) are still dormant. Dropped my Pre-M which was Prodiamine packaged in with 13-0-4. Not ideal, but that's what was...

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?
Okay, it's a couple weeks of cold weather and snow later and I've done nothing! The yard is ready for a mow aside from the snow on the ground. I don't have weeknights available so weekends are my only option and they aren't cooperating.Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: Mosquito Joe Alternative
And the quote for $377 recently was for 7 applications 3 weeks apart. That seems to be the time needed for re-application of Talster (Bifen) products. Did you confirm Talstar is what they are using? I may have missed that. I was looking into getting one of these foggers for $50, but the cocktail th...

Re: Mosquito Joe Alternative
I've used a Black Flag propane fogger for years. I'm not sure what they cost now but I think I paid $50 for it. It's just a handheld fogger but it can really put out the fog. I'd say it's perfect for under an acre. Black Flag sells the chemical or you can mix up your own. There are plenty of recipe...

I've used Talstar, but the pros get much better results. I'm assuming the sprayer may be a big part of that.

Re: LouisvilleGrubber 2018 Soil Test
Thank you Andy! Two quick questions: 1. What considerations need to be given to my Podamine app if any. 2. Do we like this product? It is readily available but seems like I put it down to howls of protest last time. I did a quick search and saw plenty of opinions on this question but didn’t see you ...

...and we have Forsythia blooms in Louisville. And I don't have a pre-M plan. As usual. It seems like I am always in the same boat, hoping for some seed to germinate so I can drop my Pre-M. The fact is, I've never dropped Pre-M. Because the seed never germinates and I miss the window. :banghead: I g...

LouisvilleGrubber 2018 Soil Test
The Forsythia bloomed last night. It's time for me to get busy! My last Logan test was 3 years ago when I was just getting started in this hobby. I had one "quickie" test last year from a local lab. After completing the initial recommendations in 2015, my program has really just been been Milo every...

Great Price: Ego Power Head + Edger
I've had my eye on the Ego power head + edger for a while. I have a corded edger that I quit pulling out just because of the cord wrangling required on a yard my size ( I really need two cords). I love the look an edger gives...a step above what i can achieve with a string trimmer, but at the end of...

Well, I was planning on March or so but...HOLY FIRST YEAR ATY KELP HELP VITAMIN M TRANSITION ZONE FESCUE GROWTH BATMAN! Re: 2018: What did you do on your lawn today?
Monday I got my soil samples pulled and some seed down. Today as I drove past my front yard I noticed that the grass is no longer "even". Meaning that it is in fact starting to grow in places. With temps forcasted at or above 60 the next week or so there could be an early March mow in my future. Als...

Re: Opinions on spring overseed
I put down about 6 lbs. Monday. I had the day off, it was 75 degrees, and the forecast was for rain and more warm weather (84 yesterday). Temps in the 60s forecasted. I figured what the heck. I really need to get preM down this year as I have some sod that had some nasty stuff in it. Not sure how th...

Is Talstar what the pros use for mosquito fogging? I was looking at some cheaper foggers on Amazon and I think they recommended something else.

Re: How 'bout it Transition zone?
I think a lot of us in theTZ missed the final app. Grass was growing one day single digits the next...and the temps never came back. I am wholly convinced, however, that the grass will be green and grow just fine. It just may need a little something-something this spring. Although my yard is still t...
