Re: Bermuda Reset Procedure

Thanks Ars! My initial thought was to scalp (bag) and fertilize before I leave @ 0.75". Then it will probably be ready to mow at 1.25" when I return. Yes, do exactly this. Set your irrigation to give it a couple deep waterings (1") while you are away. That way it can recover while you are gone. I s...

Yep. There is nothing left of the sprocket. It looks like the part is $70 from Sears. Dang it.
I would check Ebay or another outlet like that. I think you should be able to find it cheaper.

Re: ANOTHER TRU - CUT BACK LAPPING QUESTION

The set up you have will work just fine. The swivel socket adapter looks like it will just allow a little "play" in the angle that your re holding the drill. I have used your set up before and it has worked perfectly.

Re: Mclane problem - blades not spinning.

I own a McLane, but have not had that issued. A loose chain does make sense. If that is happening then I would guess that the sprocket itself may be worn down too.

Re: Tru Cut Reel Mower refurb

Yeah I searched the forum for help on this subject and mostly found how to adjust it. I learned the rest on the fly. Well like I said, Dolphin Power Equipment has great customer service! The drive sprocket on the clutch is the only one that has a lining on both sides. It's like a fiber plate simila...

Re: Tru Cut Reel Mower refurb

Dolphin Power Equipment has great customer service! I ordered some more parts yesterday and had a question about the clutch. They passed me on to their mechanic who helped me out with my questions! Will definitely use them again! https://s23.postimg.cc/teu5nzw2v/IMG_0667.jpg Congrats on the great r...

Re: Best Fill for Gaps in Bermuda Sod

Sand is the best to fill the cracks. Play sand or all purpose sand is best. Fill up the cracks and water it in, it will work great.

Re: Other hobbies?

I just spent an hour or so looking through some restorations. Looks like a fun project but a little more than just "a couple hundred in wood and paint" . I guess it depends on how you pick them. Cool none the less. Picture of yours? i agree people like to go crazy with restoring these thing...

Re: Should I resoil/sand after I Aerate

I would go with a slit seeder rental from Grand Rental Station close to you in Cary. I live in Holly Springs and have rented one from them before I bought a used rental myself. Get one with the ”delta blades". I've rented from them before and am happy with the service. Are the "delta blades" fixed...

Check out this youtube video as it goes over some clutch info.

Also, there are many threads on clutch issues here on the forum, check those out. Your pictures should help narrow down the issue(s).

Re: Other hobbies?

I buy Starcraft jet stars and jets from the 60's and restore them. Sometimes can get them for free or next to nothing, a couple hundred in wood and paint makes them almost new again. These boats are always a head turner everywhere I go, you don't see many on the water anymore. Oh and fishing, alway...

Here is the info that I have for Leap Frog. It may be better than going through there website. I think Greg is the owner. Greg Harris Leap Frog Landcare, Inc. 919-427-3131 greg@leapfroglandcare.com If you are working with bermuda I don't think there is any reason you need to mix soil in with the san...

Re: Purchase a Reel Mower or Not?

Yeah, if you are not in a hurry just wait for someone to post a descent one in the sub 200 dollar range. Set yourself up with a craigslist alert if you want. That way you can see what a reasonable price is around in your area. I don't know the science behind it but using a reel is supposedly better ...

Re: Purchase a Reel Mower or Not?

Yeah, the McLane looks nice with the paint and the new engine. Added bonus of the front roller even if it does look like it was a DIY project. I stand by my claim that I would go with a TruCut(not the one that this person is selling because of the known issues) if all was equal. If you want to go ch...

Re: Purchase a Reel Mower or Not?

Can you post a link to the add so we can see it? Or a picture of the reel? Its never too early for a reel mower. Cutting with a reel mower is overall better for the grass(more even cut, less scalping). Here is another Craigslist add in AL. A Tru-Cut in my opinion is a little more industrial than a M...

Re: Should I resoil/sand after I Aerate

What is your goal with the resoil/sand? Just to fill in the holes after aeration? Leveling? Will the cores be removed after aeration? I also live in Apex and will possibly be using sand to help level my lawn this year. Can you tell me what company has given you that quote? LeapFrog Landcare (https:/...

Re: How does TruGreen do it??

The only possible way that I could think that your neighbors lawns have no weeds would be if TruGreen just went ahead and killed the whole lawn! When I had TruGreen my yard was essentially a field of POA. Keep at what your doing, you will soon see why lawn services are a waste of money. Check to mak...

This might not be exactly what you need, but its a start.... This link most likely has your owners manual: http://www.mclanemower.com/owners_manuals.htm Here is a video of someone backlapping their McLane. This mower has a motor but it should be the same process to adjust your "reel to bedknife" cle...

Ran the rotary one last time to pick up pine needles and leaves.
Added some fuel shut off valves to all of my mowers and other small engines.
Ran the gas out of those engines in prep for winter.
Started thinking about the spring scalp
