Re: Red thread
The hot summertime is definitely not the best time of year for the synthetic fertilizers, but with that said I'm not sure if the urea during the summer will hurt. It's definitely high nitrogen, so its not ideal. I'd probably do the fungicide instead.

Re: Sharing my thoughts about TTTF
If you want Blue Green go with Midnight. Both me and my neighbor have a Midnight monostand. We have the darkest, thickest best lawns in the development. People walking their dogs will comment that our lawns are the best they've seen. On the NTEP, year after year, Midnight is always near the top in t...

Re: Left spot/melting out - When to go Nuclear?
The guide that I use is this: http://www2.ca.uky.edu/agcomm/pubs/ppa/ppa1/ppa1.pdf Azoxystrobin is awesome. Just don't apply more than two applications in a row without using a different fungicide with a different mechanism of action. As far as Leaf spot/melting out goes your best choices are Azoxys...

Re: Red thread
I forgot to also say that in the red thread section it offers this non-fungicide option if you want to try that first. It says the following: "A recent
field study also showed excellent curative recovery from an application of 1 lb urea/1,000 sq ft, without application of fungicide".

Re: Red thread
Fungal diseases are best dealt with on a preventative basis rather than curative which you probably already know. In that regard I have learned over the years to keep a lawn diary so that I know what time of year diseases begin to appear on my Midnight monostand ( rust and leaf spot/melting out). Th...

Re: KGB or Tall Fescue in California (Visalia)
First just commenting on your title. I believe the KGB is a Russian spy agency. I think you meant KBG? Secondly, in my opinion your summer is just too hot for KBG. Best KBG for the shade though is Mazama.

Re: Disease question
When it comes to fungicides and azoxystrobin you can find generics. They're not cheap but definitely cheaper than the brand. Azoxy is a great broad spectrum fungicide. Use it 2 to 3 weeks apart in terms of applications and I believe they advise not to use more than two applications in a row without ...

Re: Disease question
I'm no expert but that definitely looks like a fungus disease to me. If I had to take an educated guess, I would say it is Leaf spot/melting out. Also, those blades you took a pic of look too narrow to me to be tttf. So, are you sure it's just affecting the tttf? Either way, if it is Ls/mo then I ca...

Re: Erosion Mat
What is the square footage of the area we're talking about? There is no erosion mat that is reasonable cost for a half-acre+ lawn. Between 3500 - 4000 Sq ft. The one I saw online is made by a company called curlex? It comes in two sizes: 4 or 8 x 112.5 ft rolls. Alternatively, I'm thinking of leavi...

Erosion Mat
Gonna be renovating my daughter and son-in law's lawn this year. they are on about a 20-30 degree slope. Has anyone used an erosion mat that you thought worked particularly well? Thanks.

Re: Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass
Very, very nice! Did you keep the pot outside the entire time? I have some bewitched pots going for about 10 days. I seeded them sparingly because the last set I probably overseeded and got some fungus. I’ve brought them inside for at least part of the time due to the heat. Outside the whole time.

Midnight Kentucky Bluegrass
Hi Everyone. My home lawn is a Midnight Kentucky bluegrass monostand. I recently seeded some midnight in a pot to patch some small areas. I just wanted to post a couple of pics to show what midnight looks like about 4 weeks post germination. I didn’t fertilize it when I first seeded but fertilized i...

Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
If the reason you planted a monostand was for it’s looks, I don’t see why you’d change now —unless disease pressure is overwhelming. Thanks turf toes. I wouldn't say its overwhelming. I think the thatch removal will help. In addition I did read today that serenade can be applied through fertigation...

Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
Also, would love some feedback on: 1) I'm thinking about adding fertigation to cut down on the work. Any thoughts? and 2) I'm thinking of overseeding with Keeneland KBG(If I can find it) to reduce the incidence of rust and leaf spot. The down side is I lose some of the uniformity of the monostand. A...

Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
Thanks for the compliments everyone. Gonna do a serious thatch job come late summer early fall. It definitely needs it. Biggest enemy by far is the fungus. Ugh, it’s an almost constant struggle. Also, like a lot of folks I too have the BBDL (brown blades down low). Again, would love to see some pics...

Re: Lawn porn, Midnight Monostand
Rxrep, How are the neighbors' renovations holding up? If I recall correctly, you did a couple of them a few years ago. Here is the first one. Also Midnight Monostand about 4 years old. This neighbor is very laid back in terms of caring for it. Also has a lawn service that uses heavy equipment ( che...
