Has anyone dealt with spurge? It's snuck up in my lawn this year. I heard that Blindside is a good option. has anyone used it?

Re: Mclane problem - blades not spinning.

I finally got the parts but I can't figure out how to put the new chain on. It's like it's too short. I'm not sure if there is some sort of trick, but I'm dumbfounded.

Re: Mclane problem - blades not spinning.

Yep. There is nothing left of the sprocket. It looks like the part is $70 from Sears. Dang it.

Mclane problem - blades not spinning.

Hey everyone, So I was mowing yesterday and the Mclane started making a squealing noise and the blades no longer spin. I removed the cover over the chain that connects to the clutch. It seems like the chain is slipping over the sprocket instead of engaging. The chain is pretty loose. I think the cha...

Re: Thin spots?

Yeah, I figured it was probably due to that. My soil is so heavy that water can stand for days if the rain is heavy enough. I've thought about trenching out this spot and adding in some better soil.

Re: What to do with my trees...

I'm really thinking of taking down the tree on the left, the smaller one. It's maybe 2.5 feet farther from the house and is looking kind of shabby as of late. The tree on the right continues to grow really strongly.

Thin spots?

I have a spot in my yard where the grass is just kind of scraggly. This is a low spot in the yard where water tends to flow through when I get heavy rains, and water sometimes stands here. The rest of the yard looks great, but I can't seem to get the grass to thicken up here. Could it be fungus? Soi...

Re: Dead spots in bermuda lawn, ants?

Also, try the soapy water test to rule out grubs. Pour some soapy water on the area and wait to see if grub worms make their way to the surface.

Re: Dead spots in bermuda lawn, ants?

I don't think it would be ants causing this. Maybe a chemical burn from fertilizer or a fungus?

Re: Quick color loss

I wanted to bump this thread up again. I was lazy this year and didn't adjust and backlap my blades. I was left with torn grass that had a brownish tinge. It's super important to keep your blades sharp and adjusted, especially on a Mclane!

When to apply PGR?

I'm going to use a pgr on the lawn this year. When is the right time to apply? Is it best to wait until the lawn has fully grown in? Or is it best to apply when the grass is still pretty short?

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

I picked up the grass clippings that were washed into piles by a recent storm. The grass is starting to come in nicely though. Here's hoping for a good season!

Re: 2017: What did you do on your lawn today?

I "mowed". It was really just cleaning up the leftovers from the scalp. My grass is starting to come in nicely though. I also dropped a bag of Milorganite :yahoo: Oooh, that smell.

Re: What to do with my trees...

Yeah, that's my fear. I figured one would have to go. I swear the contractors in new construction homes don't have two brain cells to rub together. I'm wanting to keep the tree on the left to provide shade for the driveway, but the tree on the right is a little taller, althought it leans slightly.

What to do with my trees...

The builder planted these two monterrey oaks in my front yard. I feel like they were spaced way too close together. I also think that they'll eventually cause problems for my grass, but honestly, I'd rather have the trees than the grass. My front yard is so small that I could just landscape it and g...

preemptive fungus treatment.

Is preemptive fungus treatment worthwhile? Does it cause any issues other than fungicide tolerance? I got smacked with fungus last year, and I think several other people had issues last year too.

Other hobbies?

What do you guys do when you aren't doing lawn stuff? I've recently returned to one of my greatest passions, rock climbing.
