Re: The #1 Lesson You Learned in 2016
Whether using above-ground hoses or and underground irrigation system, spend the time to perform at least one irrigation audit of all zones. Until I'd taken the time to do this with many catch cups, I was only guessing at how much water my system was actually putting down consistently across my lawn.

Re: Lawn drainage issues.
Is there space where the downspout connects to the corrugated tubing that you could fit a garden hose? If so, you could try to feed the garden hose down in and kind of measure how far it goes, which direction, etc. Just go by feel and see if it gives you a sense of where it it's path underground. Ei...

Re: Sewage bill tied to water usage. Drill my own well?
Pennstater, Who is your water company? Before you start digging a well, you may want to go online and check to see how the sewer rate is being charged. You also should have received a copy of this when you opened your account. All of the water companies I have had charge sewer rate based on the wate...

Just did a search for "connecticut urea" and saw several mentions of Agway. It looks like there is one relatively close in Monroe. Call first to be sure.

The previous post looks like a great source. If they can't get it for you, try calling this distributor and ask if they can give you some names of retail places they supply.

Re: Oops, rooky mistake
I had a similar thing happen with my Prodiamine application this spring. I was using a backpack sprayer and didn't shake the mixture up as much as I should have so the first 10 feet or so of the strip I was spraying at the time got way too much. To this day, I can still see the discoloration in this...

You might want to go back to the first post which describes how to post a soil test and read step #6. The team is going to need some background on what size lawn you're working with, what your practices have generally been, goals for your lawn, etc. May be worth your time reading some of the other p...

What is the exact product name you have (or are planning to purchase)? Ortho lists a few products with Weed B Gon Max in the name but with different active ingredients. To give a specific answer to your question, we'll need the exact product name. You could probably also call Ortho's help line to fi...

Re: What fungicides should I have on hand?
You're missing a key word on the Heritage label. "Sequential". It does not say yearly, per calendar year ect.. On the label, where it first mentions "sequential", the previous sentence talks about "developing a season-long program". I had always assumed other mentions of "sequential" on the label w...

Re: What fungicides should I have on hand?
So if I apply heritage now, and no other fungicides until summer 2017 when I drop more heritage, that's sequential and a big no no? Wrong. There's an application interval listed on the label. Looks like the max number of days a given application lasts is 28 days so for your example above feel free ...

The OP is talking about a new reno.. New renos have a higher likely hood of having disease because you're watering it more often while the roots are developing etc. Many people have posted horrifying photos of their reno being destroyed by disease. So I'm in the same boat. I'm brushing up on common...

Ric, You might want to check out the performance charts for each model and your estimated PSI at the head. It's on their product pages at the link below. The charts are based on perfect scenario, so don't take it as gospel, but it should give you a sense of what you may be looking for. http://www.ra...

Ok, thanks again guys. Any readily available source of potassium free (or reduced) fertilizer? You're seeing why this regimen wasn't posted in the 101 forum. You're probably not going to find what you're looking for at the big box stores. And whatever you do find will probably force you to alter th...

Re: Question re Overseeding Fescue with KBG
Forget about the setting. There is no exact setting due to differences in spreaders and size of what you're spreading. Weigh out the amount of seed you intend to use and put in in the spreader. Use the lowest setting that consistently disperses the seed and keep making passes over your lawn until yo...

Re: How soon to water in urea?
Urea volatilizations has really been overhyped. The latest research has shown that under the worst conditions, a max of 10% of the N could be lost. You don't need to worry about N loss at all. For when you should irrigate, you might be better off doing it soon after application than waiting. Irriga...

When do the guys in Mass start bombing urea? Some cooler temps this weekend but next week will be in the 90s again. According to the plan as laid out by Andy, your lawn will tell you. Here's what you should be looking for: Once the shedding period is over, the lawn begins to really perk up. If you ...
