Re: Paspalum (Seashore)(Paspalum Vaginatum)
I'm having trouble finding info on cold tolerance of seashore paspalum. I found "does not tolerate freezing weather," but it didn't go on to say what happens when it freezes. Does it go dormant like bermuda or does it go dead? I admit I did not read all 15 pages of replies on this topic. Did y'all ...

Re: Paspalum (Seashore)(Paspalum Vaginatum)
Winter Update: An extremely dry and cooler than normal weather pattern through the fall led to my turf losing that deep green color a little earlier this year. Had some periods of growth but I've mowed probably 4-5 times since October, but never enough to recover the color loss. Dry weather aside, w...

Re: Last fertilizer app of the season?
I've dropped Sul-Po-Mag this week Dropping Super Triple Phosphate in two weeks No granular N planned because late growth can get bit by frost. May have some trace N in the foliar iron supplement I will spray this week. Dropped gypsum a couple weeks ago Good time to get that southern turf hardened up...

Re: Time between Lime and Potassium?
Thanks for the link to this thread TimmyG Question to add for any experts on the topic. Is gypsum as antagonistic as lime with K? Would a very small sgn or finely crushed gypsum vs coarse have any impact? more? less? Two weeks? Are we assuming there is rainfall/irrigation? Most questions have been d...

Re: Aeration and top dress before Sod
As info, I just aerated Monday in South GA. My number one motivating factor is getting the ground open so I can continue working gypsum down into the root zone. Still have at least another month or more of growing temps before things slow way down here. I agree in TN it's too late. [ Post made via i...

Re: Brown Patch fungus in Centipede
South Ga had quite the conditions for fungus this year. Have you actually sent tissue samples into the Extension agency to confirm you are dealing with brown patch? There are other factors to consider such a Centipede decline or ph issues. Pythium and Curvularia were extremely active in our area thi...

Re: 2016 Southern Lawn Pics
Still doing just fine here in South GA. Aeration and gypsum going down in a couple weeks. Soil test headed north to see what else is needed. Stayed clear of all granular N the entire season and remained liquid only. Results were very good imo. https://s12.postimg.cc/8vy6n3jyx/IMG_3359.jpg https://s1...

The lawns on either side of mine have this and spurge. One side has a lot more lespedeza and the other a lot more spurge. I try my best during the hot months not to spray any post emergent so I just hand pick it out if it spreads over the line. what I do know is that is chokes out everything and wil...

Re: Mid summer Zeon Zoysia scalp?
I have both...I was thinking the other day how appreciative I was that zoysia doesn't end up with a millimeter of green at the top in the summer (and all the BS that comes with that). I assume it's similar to SouthernGuys exotic grass in that regard. yes, they all have their tradeoffs. I was ponder...

Re: Southernguy311's Dog yard project
I've had to back off the fertilizer for a couple weeks due to consistently heavy rain showers. I've not had to irrigate at all in August and the extra rain makes it difficult to keep up with mowing and the 1/3 rule. With that said, here is a snap current day. Making some decent strides with coverage...

Re: Mixing chemicals with water in a 4 gal. Backpack spraye
I use a 5 gallon bucket (calibrated with 1 gallon marks), fill it with water and chemicals. Then mix it with a paint mixer for 15 seconds or so, and pour in the sprayer. The 20V Chapin has a huge top opening that makes this easy peasy. I use the bucket method as well. I've found it to be superior t...
