Thanks Pilot. He is more or less a moron. But most of them are.
That shot is actually my Reno from about 2 years ago.
The Deere cuts amazing, and I am really happy with it.

Re: Time for a new mower
I'm a dolt. I didn't read he whole thread before I replied. I absolutely adore this machine. Even with the 42" deck. I ran home early today to give the hair a cut, its been warm and Rainey for the past week. It needed to be mowed. Anyways. I snapped a quick pic. https://s22.postimg.cc/5aifcsrf1/IMG_...

Re: Time for a new mower
I just picked up a JD X380 from the local dealer. Excellent machine. Tons of power, semi-upgrade trans. 4 year 300 hour warranty, and has an excellent cut. My biggest issue, is that due to gates, I could only have a 42" deck. So the dealer swapped the 48" one to a 42" one for me. it still mows past ...

Re: Anyone Else Shoot Clay?
The last time I did that, I shot so poorly. But I do enjoy it. I think about it to much...being more of a fowl hunter, which is reactionary shooting, I over think the clay and don't let myself instinctually shoot.

Re: Drought, Fungus, or something else?
Follow up on this. The area that had the drought started to look a little grey again, and I noticed it was in teh same pattern as before, while the rest of my lawn looks great. Pulling out the ol pocket knife, I cut into the affected area and got myself a little sample. Holy thatch batman. 1.5" thic...

Re: mnmsrt8 - Soil Test 2016
You are right, it is not one of those. I understood those as recommendations for a good calcitic lime, but does not exclude others. I was unaware they were different, had I known that, I would have made sure for the first app get what was stated. I made sure I found a calcitic lime instead of the do...

Re: mnmsrt8 - Soil Test 2016
I found the Sta-Green Calcitic Lime at Lowes. A little searching revealed that it was okay to use, both from this site and other sites. I 21lbs of that in the back old section on Tuesday night (2300sqft/1000sqft X 9lbs = 20.7lbs ~ 21lbs). It then proceeded to rain since Tuesday night. I will apply t...

Poa Annua?
I have been growing out the lawn a little, and started getting seed heads everywhere. Usually, I just mulch them over and call it a day. But looking at them, I thought for a moment they might be Poa Annua patches, so I bagged last night in case it was. Sorry for the absolute garbage quality of a pho...

Re: mnmsrt8 - Soil Test 2016
Thanks HLG! No worries on the timing...Im just happy there are people out there willing to help for the sake of helping. The plan sounds good to me. Its actually less than I anticipated, which is nice. I do have a couple of questions though. Does brand matter for the balanced ferts? I assume a 30-30...

Re: mnmsrt8's lawn reno
The Rain Bird 5004 irrigation heads came in. They are some pretty nice units. I replaced all 9 in my front yard last night. My PGPs were burried pretty good so I had to dig out the doughnuts to put the ones in...not really what I wanted to do, but its alright. One of the main features I like was the...

mnmsrt8 - Soil Test 2016
Here is my LL report. I have three very distinct areas in my yard, the front, back new (reno area) and back old (what was there.) The front and back old are more than likely the original grass from homeowner install in the late 80s, a good NoMix, my guess is that its mostly Fescue and KBG. The renov...

Re: Calibrating Spreader for Different Material?
The lazy man method.
Weigh out what you need in material for the size area you want to cover. Set spreader low to fairly low depending on material size.
Walk around in every direction possible until material is gone. You have now just applied the material at the rate you wanted.
