Re: Three Lawn Care Teams
I am going to give you a slightly different opinion on this and I don't expect it to be popular here. First and foremost, I agree that nobody will do it better than you if you do it. The question is -will you do it consistently? If you miss applications, get bored, or otherwise don't take care of bu...

ndlutz 2019 Soil Test
The following soil test is for a lawn approximately 4k with a northern mix. The house is new to us so we don't have a lot of info on the type of care it received in the past. The goal is going to be to improve the soil to make it the best that it can be without any type of renovation. I'd be happy t...

Re: Mowing low to get rid of quackgrass - my experience
Interesting. It makes sense to me as research has shown grazing to be an effective control of quackgrass.

Re: Lawn not doing well
I was feeling pretty good about where I stood until a few days ago with my lawn. Like many of you, I have been suffering from extremely wet weather, little sunlight, and damp humid conditions. It has been horrible trying to mow this fall. It's always wet and since I've been trying the aggressive nit...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens: How Is It Going?
I've been really pleased with my results from the aggressive program. A lot of spreading into areas that I had damage in and a nice dark green color.

Re: Latest to seed
I do not know about TTTF but I do not believe you are going to have good results with KBG this late in the game in our area. I would either use PRG or wait until spring if it were me or investigate whether the TTTF will work.

Re: Umbo's Late Backyard Reno
As Pway said, I would not allow them to use a contractor mix. I would seed PRG for now. Home Depot generally sells large bags of the Lesco Double Eagle blend. I have been happy with this and it germinates very quickly. You'll have a lawn in about 30 days.

Re: Jason's 2018 Overseed (St. Louis - TTTF)
With the way grub damage works, I don't know how you would get seed to soil contact without raking up the dead grass. Sorry that probably isn't what you want to hear.

Re: Jason's 2018 Overseed (St. Louis - TTTF)
Are you seeing a lot of grubs when you pull up the grass? That's the usual culprit when the lawn comes up easily, roots and all. If that's the case, you'll want to address the issue but be sure you can use the product (Dylox) at the same time you seed. I believe you can but I don't know off the top ...

This thread is epic. Nice work.
You are going to be fine. It's always nerve-wracking when you go seed down even if you've done this before. Looking at the germination you have in the peat moss areas, you're going to do fine in the areas you're relying on the dead grass too.

Re: General help on front
I wouldn't pull plugs and transplant them somewhere else if they don't "look great." If you're taking plugs like that and putting them into areas where you have already had issues, it seems to me that you may be setting up for failure.

You can buy dithiopyr granules that you mix in a tank just like prodiamine. Dithiopyr has some post-emergent effectiveness in addition to the pre-emergent capabilities.

I get mine from Agway. Comes in the white or brown paper bag Andy describes. They don't carry a ton so some years I have to order it and wait.

Although I can't say this from first hand experience, you will probably be fine. I believe I have seen other topics on this before where things turned out fine and you are at peak paranoia time right now.
Go make yourself a drink and chill out. Good luck.

Re: Fall regimen not greening this spring - options?
I can't add much to this thread in terms of helping with actual issues you may have, however, I live close to you and can tell you that my KBG lawn is still waking up this year. We got a ton of rain here yesterday and I noticed today things are looking greener. It might just be the year we're having...
