need help with selecting KBG
My backyard project was completed ahead of time and now I need to do a reno. I did one a couple of years ago but that I can't find the seeds (bewitched, prosperity and award). It will be under 70-90% sun. I would like to stick with a blend as that seems to be the safest route. I'm leaning towards Ma...

Should I Cease or should I Serenade?
I started using Serenade last fall after my reno, and I've found a "Cease" Biofuncide which, according to the label has the same active ingredient as serenade and at the same concentration: QST 713 strain of Bacillus subtilis*....1.34% and is much cheaper. I've searched this site and haven't found a...

Re: Can I kill weeds before spring seeding / Overseeding?
For some background, I did a backyard reno last fall, and I made some mistakes. I have a couple of of patches like the pic, that require seeding and some others that require overseeding. Ok, so RU for those two worse patches, but what can I use for the overseeding sections?

Re: Can I kill weeds before spring seeding / Overseeding?
Vague? Somehow, when I wrote my post, I thought weeds are weeds, LOL, although I should've known better. From a few pics I took and searching the Internet it looks like I have chickweed, violets, and dandelions. Pic attached for confirmation. thank you! https://i.postimg.cc/qg0DZwqv/weeds-20200327-1...

Can I kill weeds before spring seeding / Overseeding?
I did a backyard reno last fall and I now see how patch where it has been overcome by weeds. What can I use to kill them before I seed? I would like to kill them, mow and bag and then seed. I've read posts about applying drive 75 at seeding, but can I do it a couple of weeks before seeding? thanks

Re: Juan's backyard soiltest
Andy, OK, you were right (as I thought you were )...i could walk and not worry about the seedlings ;) In one of your responses you said "** Do not start this program and try to do the Fall Fertilizer Regimen at the same time.".....I've applied the fertilizer in September and once in October, and the...

Re: Juan's backyard soiltest
Good point about being cheaper per lb of N.....but honestly I was just happy that I found a balanced fertilizer. As for the lime, you said to wait two weeks after I apply the fertilizer, but hopefully my seeds will be in the sprout and pout phase then. Would it be ok to walk around to apply the lime...

Re: Juan's backyard soiltest
I didn't even think of walmart and found 10-10-10 40 lb bags. Thanks! To confirm, I would need 2 bags? I will put it down this weekend and continue to stare at my seeds. LOL

Re: Juan's backyard soiltest
thanks Andy, I had a hard time finding a fertilizer locally with the same NPK numbers but I found a place and I'm picking it up tomorrow. it's a 14-14-14 in 40 pound bags. To see if I'm understanding what I'm reading correctly, I seeded 8k (my backyard), so to get 1lb of N per 1k sq ft, I need to sp...

Re: Juan's backyard soiltest
I couldn't find a way to edit my post, so here are two edits: I should've said the three blends that I selected seem to have similar color and growth rate, not equal. Second, i have a thread in the lawn renovations forum, which you find here https://aroundtheyard.com/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=25322

Re: Starting my Reno 2019
i've made a few mistakes already......Not cutting it shorter before round-up.....letting it turn brown and then trying to scalp, which didn't go well as the grass had matted and the mower wouldn't pick a lot of it up. I had to rent a power rake from a big box store, dig out the dead grass, and rake ...

Re: Juan's backyard soiltest
First, I was thinking of doing an Award monostand, but from what I've read, that is more prone to disease than a KGB blend since each blade has the same weakness allowing the disease to spread more rapidly. This being my first reno, I didn't want to take the chance of my backyard turning brown in a ...

Re: Juan's backyard soiltest
Unless I'm doing something wrong, I did. I couldn't do it right away following the creating of my thread as I got a message saying that my post was too soon to my earlier post.

Starting my Reno 2019
I know that I'm little late for a Reno from contractor's mix to KBG (Bewitched, Award, Prosperity) but I have to admit....I've been busy enjoying the summer. I plan on seeding Aug 31st. I want to kill my using glyphosate 50%, but I have a question that I haven't seen answered. How long after rain do...
