Re: Looking Forward to 2021 Season
Last year my KBG really seemed to take off. Im still fighting POA-Annua; but it seems less because of hand pulling the poa-annua and the KBG is spreading much more aggressively if I can keep POA-Annua out of the bare spots. Last year I think I had some poa-a that must have germinated after the first...

Re: Starter Plus Weed Preventer 21-22-4
I have suggested people to use it; and your on the right track, but the general consensus among many on here is.... 1.) You usually don't have to put down starter with the seed if you have good soil, your better off waiting until 30 days after germination to put any fertilizer down. Every request on...

Re: Battery-powered leaf blower suggestions
For some reason Lowe’s puts all their lawn stuff on clearance every Fall. Resellers grab them up and put them on eBay, because come Christmas even their website won’t have many cordless lawn stuff in stock. Come next spring and summer, they will start to have things in stock again. COVID may have so...

Re: How many weeks when it's green again?
Noticed this thread come back, Green is right on the money. December 2019 my lawn was a disaster, it had gotten destroyed from that summer. I was hoping and praying for a miracle come spring. I had bare spots everywhere, KBG spreading was my only hope. Spring this year and the KBG took off and was f...

Re: Longer/Deeper Topics for Off-Season?
Thanks for the reply Green.... I think your right. I have a heel strip in the front thats my last original bit of lawn and is in semi shade, it always grew well until the fall so I never did much with it. I have tried over-seeding with PR to even out the color and last year even played around with s...

Re: Final Urea App Question....
All the above info has just made me appreciate the fall fertilizer program as a whole even if one or two parts can't be timed out perfect because of weather. This my KBG lawns 3rd summer, this year it did much better in the summer and the weekly Urea apps just got it back to where it was in June. My...

Re: Final Urea App Question....
Thanks for the suggestions. I may have exaggerated the monsoon, they are predicting about 2", but that pretty much is as close to a monsoon as i have gotten all year :-) Ill have to take another look at the weather and decide. I could technically run the sprinkler and just blow it out again, Im just...

Final Urea App Question....
Just curious if i should wait on my final urea app? I have 0.7" of rain coming tomorrow. I have 3 days of 60deg, then a monsoon on 2" after that. I'd rather drop the urea for the 0.7" rain event as my sprinkler is turned off for the season. On my last cut I had waited a week, and I was cutting about...

Re: 2020: What Did You Do On Your Lawn Today?
I think I did my final cut today, had a 1/4" clippings here and there at most. Mostly I was just re mulching leaves. I have a few rain events making there way through next week, going to try and drop my final urea app next week. I also did a pass at 4" on my FF in the front, no real top growth. I cu...

Re: Longer/Deeper Topics for Off-Season?
I hate to say it, unless I cut down a few trees, I have a lot more shade in my future than full sun. I'd be interested in more info on how to handle KBG and TTTF growing in shadier conditions also. It doesn't have to be a formula for miracle in a bottle, just the practices it takes to succeed when d...

Re: Poa or ????
Thanks Andy, I have been around here a while, but still got a lot out of that. I always forget about the commitment to have the ugly lawn and sacrifice a whole season treating whatever you're treating. Last summer I tried stretching out the watering to kill all the poa-annua I have, the lawn was in ...

Re: Some lawn growing, some lawn stopped. Questions.
Its always a crap shoot for me. in SE mass. We have had much warmer November last few years. I am not seeing a lot of cuttings, but then again i cut every two days to mulch leaves. What always happens with me, is I have already blown out my sprinkler. So I have to balance when I think the lawn has s...

Re: Battery-powered leaf blower suggestions
I have some Kobalt 80v tools and happy with them. I have the non self driving mower and am happy with it, I also have the new blower and very happy with it. The re-design is more more ergonomic and it has a ton of power. they do have a back pack version of the blower, but as i mulch my leaves not su...

Re: Frost: Right On-Time?
I think around October 20th for us: no frost in site. In fact warm weather forecast all week.
I am probably calling it a year anyway for weekly urea, I got my cut down to 2”, That’s good for mulching and spotting the poa-a seed heads still taunting me that the made it through the summer.

Re: Surfactant before last irrigation?
Why spray iron only once, and at the end of the year? I follow the fall fertilizer regimen, and my lawn so dark green at this point, but not familiar with this one. I am always battling poa-a and battling fungus, I haven’t reached the point where I figured I wanted to start worrying how dark green th...

Does anyone have any experience with Xonerate 2SC for POA-A Control?
My KBG lawn got through the summer with twice a week waterings and has responded really well to the fall fertilizer program. This year i had to really bring it back from the dead, so my goal was to get it strong enough to maybe do weekly waterings next year. Unfortunately a lot of poa-a has also mad...

Re: Game On for Autumn Leaves!!
I could stand to wait a few weeks for the leaves, I was planning on my 3rd and last pre-m around the 2nd week of October. I was never sure of a lot of mulched leaves in the lawn messed pop the pre-m getting into the soil.
