Re: Necessary Steps For Lawn Reno? Analysis By Paralysis
Nice job, your actually are right on the money for a lot of things. A few things things come to mind.... Water the lawn really well the night before to get it kind of soft and mushy the day before the over-seed. It helps the roller squish the seed into the ground.\ You dont need starter fertlizer Yo...

Re: Irrigreen Irrigation System
It looks really neat, but if you’re shooting for 100% efficiency, how does it handle wind. Show me how the computer handles a 15-20mph wind.
It really the only way to handle a yard with all those complex shapes.

Re: Status of POACure? (Updated 02/2020 below)
Why wouldn't you, many gold courses are using it now. If you know what your doing and follow instructions carefully, it is probably perfectly safe on residential lawns. Those of us battling poa-a and triv really need something to take these nuisances on and would be willing to be extra careful with ...

Re: Spot Spraying with Tenacity....What's next?
You will kind of notice a pattern…. 4oz/ac rate 10-14 days a part 2oz/ac rate 7 days a part 1oz/ac 3-4 days a part In the spring the studies I see mentioned say that more frequent intervals of tenacity in the spring give you a better chance at control. But a lot depends on the weather, cloudy and ra...

Re: Spot Spraying with Tenacity....What's next?
The first thing to realize is that tenacity kills slowly and everything that turns white does not necessarily die. You gotta think “control” vs some magic spray that just kills poa-a and triv. It defiantly doesn’t kill triv and even some mature stubborn poa-a varierties can survive it. It does suppr...

Re: Reseeding lawn and pre soak grass seed
I have seen the method suggested in other places, its never got much traction here. I think it's more of a warm season lawn technique. I wonder how easy it is for the pre-germinated seedlings to take right themselves and take root. I know last year i did a small over-seed and went too heavy on the p...

Re: Reseeding lawn and pre soak grass seed
I think the big draw is with KBG that has a longer germination time, you can save some watering.
Even if this worked, it doesn't get you past the "sprout and pout" phase.
It would be interesting to see what the percentage of seed that makes it with this method.

Re: Reseeding lawn and pre soak grass seed
I have seen youtube videos of guys spreading germinated seed in a spreader. I guess somehow it just finds it way to the ground and establishes roots :-) Miloganite even has a section of it on its website.... https://www.milorganite.com/professionals/golf-athletic-fields/turf-establishment/pre-germin...

Re: Spring 2023 SE Mass. Soil Test (logan Labs)...
Thanks for report, I guess I have wired soil, you have said that before when you looked at my soil results. I attached links to my old soil tests. Everything is going well with the lawn, the KBG is on its 3rd or 4th year, my plans are to apply whatever is recommended and some BSF and kill some poa-a...

Re: Suspected poa triv not lighting up (white) from Tenacity
I have been through this myself. I used to think my Tenacity was no good because I didn't get instant whitening after a week. I did a blanket 4 oz/ac Tenacity app to mark out any poa-a and triv in my lawn. I wait 10-14 days and I'll get some lightning and color changing, but don't get a ton of suspi...

Spring 2023 SE Mass. Soil Test (logan Labs)...
Thanks for the soil report review, its been a few years at this point. The lawn is a KBG lawn with 1,500 sf. Last year I followed the guide lines guidelines I have been getting for a few years now. I applied 2#/k of SOP monthly and Twenty Mule Team laundry soap and Manganese Sulfate at 3 tablespoons...

Re: Spring PreM with large fall overseed?
How much crab grass does the lawn have? The spring pre-m is mostly for Crab Grass. You can kill CG when its young with Quinclorac, but if you have a lot of CG you will find its easier to make sure it doesn't germinate in the first place. If you can't nuke the whole yard in the Fall; even though CG d...

Re: Weed battle and now POA Triv
I have taken a more "Morpheus Protocol" approach the last few springs at least with spraying for poa-a. But didnt the "Morpheus Protocol" also include some kind of other chemical that doubles the strength of the Tenacity thats really bad to get on the skin? Not that you want any of this on your skin...

Re: Prodiamine vs dimension
A few differences….. Prodiamine lasts longer, you can buy a bottle of mix that you mix your self for the same price of a 50lb bag of granular pre-m. That bottle will last you years. Dimension has some post emergent properties if you put it down at a strong enough rate. It won’t kill crab grass that’...

Re: Sprayer vs. Spreader?
It’s almost always cheaper to buy a concentrate and mix it yourself. Of course that also means your spraying it, which can be difficult if you have a large area. For products that are absorbed through the grass blades spraying is better, good examples are herbicides and a lot fungicides. I used to u...

Re: Recovering from drought
I apologize, its just that 7.5" seems crazy when it seems like we haven't had more than 1" since May or June. I guess 7.5" doesn't do a lot for the grass since everything over an 1" tends to run off, at least thats the theory behind storm water management. Now 7.5" over 4-5 days, now were talking, b...

Re: Recovering from drought
Monday into Tuesday we got 7.5” in the gauge and our local streams are barely moving, water absorbed really well into the ground. Awesome to see but we still need more!
Do you really mean 7.5”? That’s like a 1,000 year storm. It see...

Re: Adding peat moss to soil after overseeding
I am a big believer in peat moss, mostly because I have a compost spreader I love to use :-) In reality if you can get water down 3-5 times a day, you probably don't have to. I did a few small patches this spring and put down way too much peat moss. I was more worried about wash outs and figured mor...

Thanks, but I was kind of referring to the thread that got posted every year 2nd week of August. There are a lot of specifics, and the questions and answers are helpful if you read through it. Like I said I know it pretty well by now, but just wanted to reread it to see if there's anything I missed....

What happened to the fall fertlizer program post?
Not that I don't have it almost memorized by this year, but does anyone have a like to the old post on the fall fertilizer program?
Even doing a search for it or Andy's name gets me to a an error page, it's kind of weird.
