Re: What to Do?
Yep, you should get the germination this spring from previous efforts. That is, if the PR allows the KBG to establish. There is the great possibility that it won't because of the allelopathic affect that PR has. If it doesn't happen, it is never going to happen, so subsequent efforts will be equally...

Re: new in indy
I agree with CC. Sometimes, readers can be ready with a fix, a plan, or a starting point without realizing they missed the key words in the original post. I think sometimes we become excited and ready to help. A lawn that is "way above average" doesn't warrant any of your considerations. Maybe just ...

Re: Seed Index
Hi there, Bavaria. Thanx for posting the link. Unfortunately, the seed page and the company page at NTEP are quite old. I've asked a couple times that they update them, but I guess they are too busy. If you know of or come across any other indexes, please don't hesitate to post them.

Seeding article modified
I modified the seeding article to recommend a liquid aeration product over core aeration to reduce the likelihood of Poa annua and Poa trivialis. I am quite certain there is also high probability that new seeds have Poa in them when purchased, so always be sure to order sod quality seeds to further ...

Re: what grass?
Hey there, Andy. Hey there, Westman. Sorry I took so long and glad you changed your mind about Emblem. Per your specification, Jacklin's 4 Seasons Bluegrass will be great for you. For blending, there are one or two others I can recommend as soon as I get back to my own computer. On my cousin's compu...

Re: Seed suggestions?
Tiemco, I can't try to address all of that because you're confusing terminology. Your examples are indications of polymorphic or morphological differences, not genetic differences necessarily. To flip that and explain a different way, the most genetically similar KBGs don't perform or look exactly t...

Re: Seed suggestions?
You don't have to assume I am discrediting a lot of turfgrass scientists' work because I never said there is no variation. That was too much to add to what I stated. My point was it is too difficult to know the differences between them - which are vastly different (besides K-31) and which are very s...

Re: Seed suggestions?
I did a TTTF renovation last year so I know what you are going through finding a particular cultivar. It is generally recommended that you use 3-4 cultivars for genetic diversity Genetic diversity within Tall Fescue? For genetic diversity, you'd you have to mix it with another species. bmweiler09, ...

Re: Seed suggestions?
Would it help if I went to different stores and wrote down the seed mixes and percentages of blends Im considering and see what you guys think? oops, sorry I didn't see this thread sooner or I would have prevented you from bothering with that expedition, knowing you likely wouldn't find many. The N...

Re: Say it ain't so.
what? So you're asserting that all major seed suppliers of KBG have Poa Annua seed in them? Actually, yes. I think all the northern grasses do. I've also seen test plots of Tall Fescue ridden with Poa although I expect it happens most often with KBG. This is also the reason I question most recent p...

Re: Say it ain't so.
So, really, this issue isn't about grass types at all. It's about seed suppliers and the methods they use to identify and clean their seed of Poa T/Poa A. Turf Toes, I became confused about some things you stated but will have to read more carefully when I have time later. For now, I just want to c...

Re: How soon can you mow after overseeding?
Sorry, it's a barrier to overseeding. You also don't want to suck up the germinated ones. The roots are no deeper in the soil at this this point than the seedlings are tall. The are not yest secured and will easily be removed. I think you can rent a reel mower from the big box stores. Otherwise, giv...

Hi there, kle4par, and welcome to the forum. Please describe "terrible" for me and then answer Andy and Gary's questions. Also, I'd like to no...

Re: Weed ID Help
Doesn't look like dead Poa T but can't say for certain about Poa A. Maybe someone else can but I really think you're going to have to wait til spring to find out. Kind of hard to tell after it is brown.

Morph, I can't believe you watch Project Runway. Great show!
Swami, your clue was in Morph's first post. Anything that takes more than once to decompose in the composting process wouldn't be left on your lawn. Remove it when seedlings are about a half inch long. Just take it slow.
