Re: Dropping HOC with PGR?
REd... Do you have a groomer on your mower? If so how deep do you have it set?

Re: Dropping HOC with PGR?
I am in the middle of this right now. So far so good with only a little scalping. My hoc on the mower was .5'' and is now down to .25". The actual grass was about 1" long and is now closer to .5" since the mower rides on top. My mower does have a groomer on it so I think this has helped to stop some...

Re: Groomer Guide
My impatience got the best of me. I broke out the power rake and worked the yard over pretty good with it. Now I have lowered the HOC as well. Currently cutting with and HOC of 3/8'' and the groomer set 1/4'' below that. The yard definitely has some "scalped" spots, but I expect them to bounce back ...

Re: Groomer Guide
SimonR that is a good example right there. I am definitely dealing with the same problem, however not quite as bad. I guess I my need to break out the power rake and us it as a verticutter as I usually do. I sure do need to get the delta blades for it. Or maybe I could find a good deal on the vertic...

Re: Groomer Guide
Thats an interesting thought about the way other factors can influence grain. But to answer your question, I have not mowed it in the morning. I generally mow on Friday evenings when it is 2000 degrees out. Apparently I like to sweat. As of right now I am going with the shorter is better mantra and ...

Re: Groomer Guide
MQ. Yes I did have it set at .5" which was equal to the HOC, however this was not into the soil due to the mower riding on top of the grass. And yes I always alternate the directions that I mow. The interesting thing about that is that I have noticed when I mow to the south it lifts the grass more a...

Groomer Guide
I was hoping to get a topic started to detail how everybody is using their groomers ( for those who have them). So here is a little history about my decision to get a groomer and what I have experienced. For the past several years I have scheduled a mid season scalp right after 4th of July. This has...

I'm not sure if this is the proper way to link to other forum topics but there is already a 220e thread in the equipment forum. http://aroundtheyard.com/equipment/john ... 20014.html

Re: Mid-season Scalp?
I have scalped my lawn down every year, for the last 7 or 8 years, right after July 4th weekend. It has worked good for me and always allowed me to keep the grass short (sub .75'') without the late season scalping. I always use a power rake at the same time as scalping too. This year is the first ye...

Re: 2016 Southern Lawn Pics
@ Lagerman72.... Is your home a PMC built? If so I used one of their floor plans as a basis for having a house built in CO a few years ago. Beautiful yard by the way. Keep up the good work.

Re: Primo Maxx
Judging from the fact that my bermuda no longer grows as fast over the edge of the sidewalk and curb I would have to say it is therefore not spreading as fast while on primo. If I were you I would lay off the primo around the trenched areas. It shouldn't take very long for those to fill in.

Re: Got Bored - So I scalped a section and then....
Blurrr. I wish you the best of luck. I fought trying to keep bent grass looking nice for 2 seasons after moving back to Texas from Colorado. Long story short I through in the towel and now have a beautiful stand of 419. I will say however that there is no softer or better stripping "short" grass tha...
