Thanks for the feedback. I agree - that's the route I'm headed and it should save me money too!

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test

Thanks Andy. I just didn't want to bother you as I know I'm one of many who rely on your expertise. If the threshold is a day I'll give it 2 at the most :)

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test

Hi Andy, I have rain coming by Tuesday night. I'd like to at least get the lime/Epsom down if I am trying to get two apps in 90 days apart. If not, I can save an app for next year and only hit it once this year. Please take a look at my questions when you have a moment - thanks!

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test

OK, thanks. I only mention it as I have not been consistent when I take the sample. In the future I will try to shoot for 4".

The lawn is approximately 19k sqft. I use 20 for my calculations when buying product by weight.

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test

For the lime application, assuming #10 per ksqft just for comparison sake: Sta-green fast acting calcitic lime = $104 Mag-i-cal = $180 Mag-i-cal Plus = $240 I’m thinking I save my money and use Sta-green and Anderson’s DG unless Mag-i-cal replaces it and saves me from a separate application of humat...

Re: CVette's 2020 Soil Test

Actually, I’m not disappointed, I know it is a marathon. I think I am seeing the results in a thicker lawn that is more resistant to heat. I haven't been consistent with sampling depth, does it enter into your calculation or is it anecdotal? I’m averaging about 70# per thousand (50-50 Milo and SBM/A...

CVette's 2020 Soil Test

Attached is my 2020 Logan Labs soil test alongside my history. Best OM percent to date but still "mediocre". Please perform a soil analysis and suggest micros, lime and any other actions to be taken. I missed my chance to buy Encap in my area so please suggest other recommended brands/type if lime i...

Soil Testing Question

I'm using Logan Labs and have used them in the past for my soil tests. Previously I had shipped the sample out 1-2 days after I took it. This year it's been 2 weeks since I took the sample but haven't shipped it yet. Do I need to take a new sample or is the one I have still good? I didn't know if th...

Re: Growth Stoppage

I'm still new to predicting when growth stops. Lately, even during the warmest part of the day, the grass is still crunchy and leaves foot prints so I'm not inclined to take the lawn tractor out and check my bag. I suppose I'll have to though. Last 10 days: - highs: 34,39,37,43,32,25,37,50,34,37 - l...

Re: Seed suggestions for shade reno

Thanks Green. When we bought the house it was predominantly FF and the front yard is still FF since I haven't reno'd it yet. It gets red thread every year and I simply let it run its coarse. Thankfully the KBG hasn't been afflicted by any disease I've seen attack the FF. Some searching revealed that...

Seed suggestions for shade reno

Hi All, About 7 years ago I reno'd most of my back yard using Bewitched/Nuglade/Bedazzled. Even though some areas only get about 2-4 hours of sun, I figured I'd redo anything that didn't survive due to lack of direct sun. It's thin and I'm thinking it's time to redo it. All of my reno's so far have ...

Re: Fall Nitrogen Regimens

Standing by with urea. Plan to test/cut every 4 days until I see no clippings. Then wait about 5 days, double check that all growth has definitely stopped, then drop the urea. Kinda concerned that the soil might be frozen when the time comes. I never paid attention to that before, so not sure what ...

Re: Snow cover anyone?

I'm in your boat. Temps dropped quickly and I got my last mow in yesterday. Today I'll be cleaning the gutters and putting the lawn furniture away before we get 5-8" tonight. 42deg on Saturday and then it's low 30s for the next 10 days. This probably won't be the last time I see the green ground but...

All Lowes and HD near Albany NY are still out. Even out toward Syracuse. Ordered 8 bags with 20% off and still waiting for stores to restock.

Re: BLSC and KH Questions

Yes, but from reading the forums it appears that they've changed and the article hasn't been updated. Specifically: - the KH is 4 and 8oz in one gallon instead of 2 gallons - the BLSC in the article uses SLES liquid instead of SLS powder and the yucca is less than 8oz I know it is the "glug" measure...

Re: BLSC and KH Questions

I've read all the BLSC and KH posts. Can I please get a confirmation of the amounts before I buy the ingredients? BLSC: 5oz SLS powder OR 40oz SLES liquid per gallon of water 1oz Yucca extract per gallon of water KH: 4oz Kelp powder OR 24oz Kelp liquid per gallon of water 8oz Humic acid per gallon o...
